The La Grange high school class of 1980 will have two parties. The first is Friday night, Sept. 26 7 p.m. held at Mullins Prairie store. This party is open to everyone who wants to come no matter when they graduated so we welcome others to come join us. We will be able to spread out and order off the normal food and bar menu. Dutch treat. The second party is for class of 1980-only. Party will be Saturday Sept. 27 at Peter and Paul Catholic Church hall in Plum starting at 5 p.m.. This is heavy hors d’oeuvres. The 3rd Annual Fayette County Car Show will be held Saturday, Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange. Classic and new car models are welcome. Fee is $10 per entry (fee goes to the Fayette County Fair Association Scholarship Fund). Awards presentation will be held at 2 p.m. The first 50 entries will receive one free season pass to the Fayette County Fair Aug. 28-31. Category/ awards: Best Fair Theme Presentation; Pre-1949; 19491979 Cars; 1949-1979 Trucks; 1980 & Up Cars; 1980 & Up Trucks; and Best of Show. Door prizes and 50/50 raffle.

Democratic Party
The Fayette County Democratic Party invites you to attend a “Meet the Candidates” event on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 3 p.m., held at the Randolph Recreation-Activity Center, located at 653 E. Pearl St. This is a great opportunity to hear directly from the candidates running for state and federal offices, ask questions, and engage in the democratic process. All are welcome. Attendance is free.
There’s more St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger will host their 75th Annual Bazaar on Sunday, Aug. 24 starting at 10:30 a.m. There will be a drive-thru and dine-in meal at the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce Hall consisting of fried chicken, sausage and trimmings for $15 per plate. Los Banditos featuring Tim Kulhanek will provide the music. There will be a silent auction as well as a live miniauction and other fun activities. A prize drawing for a $5,000 gift card first prize, a $2,500 gift card second prize, a $1,000 gift card third prize, twenty $500 gift card prizes and 26 additional prizes will be held in the afternoon. Tickets for the drawing are available from the St. John’s/St. Mary’s Parish Office, St. Mary parishioners or Fayetteville Bank, or Round Top State Bank. Kids’ Health and Nutrition
Think Organic Academy will offer a free class, Kids’ Health and Nutrition at the Randolph Recreation Center in La Grange, Sunday, Aug. 24, 2-4 p.m. The class will cover children’s health from conception to teen years. The presenter is David E. Will, who has taught continuing education classes on Natural Medicine for 35 years. David is not a doctor and has nothing to sell. Learn how many parents stop ear infections, reverse asthma, prevent diabetes, chronic infections and more. Today 54% of children in the U.S. lives with at least one chronic disease condition that will follow them into adulthood. This class is for educational and informational purposes only. CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962
CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 of La Grange and Plum will hold their first meeting of the 2025-2026 year on Monday, Aug. 25 in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Center in La Grange. A social provided by the Court Officers for all members to enjoy will begin at 6 p.m. The meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m. Members are invited to attend. New members are always welcome. You will receive the Minutes by email prior to monthly meetings to review and report corrections. Minutes will also be available at the meeting and Church Office. Fair Senior Citizens Event
Fayette County Fair Senior Citizens Hawaiian Luau Event will be held Aug. 28 at the KC Hall in La Grange from 2-5 p.m. Advance tickets can be purchased at Lone Star Cleaners or at Orsak’s Cafe in Fayetteville for $5 each. Tickets will be available at the door the day of the event. The event is for seniors 65 and over. There will be door prizes, drinks, music, dancing and a meal. This event will be in memory of Marge Rosenberg.
La Grange Senior Citizen Game Day The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host game day on Thursday, Aug. 28 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. Hermann Sons Life
The monthly Hermann Sons Life meeting will be held Thursday, Aug. 28, at the Round Top American Legion Hall. Social time is at 6 p.m. and meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Meal of chicken spaghetti following the meeting. Bring side dishes or desserts to share.
Second Chance Labor Day Hours
Second Chance Emporium Labor Day weekend hours: sales store and donations drop-off area will be open for business on Friday, Aug. 29 and Saturday, Aug. 30. The donations drop-off area will be closed on Monday, Sept. 1.
Annual Fair Parade
The Fayette County Fair parade is Saturday, Aug. 30 beginning at 10:30 a.m. The parade route is the same as the last couple of years. The Fayetteville St. John The Baptist Catholic Church will hold their annual picnic on Sunday, Aug. 31 at St. John’s Recreation Hall in Fayetteville. A Mass with Polka Music will be held at 10 a.m. with local musicians taking part in the Mass. There will be a barbecue beef, pork and sausage dinner served at 10:30 a.m. Plates to go at the hall and a drive thru line will also be available at 10:30 a.m. Area musicians will provide live music starting at 11 a.m. under the pavilion. Barbecue and sausage burgers will be sold beginning at 1:30 p.m. A country auction including quilts, antiques, coins, etc. will be held at 1:30 p.m. There will be bingo at 2 p.m. in an air conditioned hall and kolaches and other pastries will be available throughout the day. Some attractions include children’s games, silent auction, country store, cake wheel, and ice cold refreshments.
The La Grange High School class of 2026 is having a drive -thru meal consisting of chicken fried chicken, twice baked potatoes, green beans, corn, dinner roll, and peach cobbler prepared by Koopmann Catering on Friday, Sept. 5 from 4:30-6 p.m. at the La Grange High School Cafeteria. Cost is $15 per plate, drive-thru only. Ticket deadline is Wednesday, Aug. 27. Contact any La Grange High School senior for tickets.
Armed Forces Dinner and Dance
The second annual Armed Forces Appreciation Dinner and Dance is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 13. Tickets are available from local veterans organizations for $20 each. Deadline to purchase tickets is Sept. 3. The dinner and dance will be held at the La Grange KC Hall, 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange, beginning at 3 p.m.
Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser The La Grange Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574 will host its Memorial Scholarship Fish Fry Fundraiser on Thursday, Sept. 4 at the Knights of Columbus Community Center in La Grange from 4-6 p.m. Plates to-go drive-thru only for $15. Menu includes fried fish, cole slaw, buttered potatoes, pinto beans and hushpuppies. The public is cordially invited. Meal is on a first come, first served basis. No tickets available and no call-ins.
