Legion, Auxiliary
The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, June 8, at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive in La Grange. Installation of the 2022-2023 officers for both the Post and the Unit will take place. Scholarships will be awarded to the three recipients by the Unit prior to the meeting. The District 19 President, Irene Szwarc of Hallettsville, will also be in attendance. Members are encouraged to attend and give their support to the newly installed officers. A meal will be served prior to the meeting.
Summer Reading
The first Summer Reading Program at the the Fayette Public Library will be held Wednesday, June 8 at 10:15 a.m. with the Science Tellers: Pirates Lost at Sea! Set sail with the library on a thrilling, action-packed adventure about a crew of quirky pirates stranded on a desert island. Join again on Thursday, June 9 at 10:15 a.m. for story hour. Enjoy some fun pirate stories, crafts, and a cool treat. Sign up for the Summer Reading Program at the Fayette Public Library. All programs are free and open to the public. Widowed Spouses Support Group
Hospice Brazos Valley will host a Grief Support Group on the third Tuesday of each month from 10 to 1l:30 a.m. for anyone who is grieving the loss of a spouse. Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support
Hospice Brazos Valley will host a Alzheimer’s or Dementia Support Group and will meet on the second Tuesday of each month from 10 until 11 a.m. Hospice Brazos Valley is located at 1048 N. Summer Chess Club
Summer Chess Club will meet every Wednesday in June and July at Round Top Family Library for free chess instruction from 2-3 p.m. for adults and children ages seven and up. The library is located at 206 W. Mill St. in Round Top or call (979) 249-2700. David McCall, instructor, is a retired scholastic chess coach.
Feed The Need
Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.
AMEN Food Pantry Meeting
The AMEN Food Pantry will have their annual corporate directors meeting on Thursday, June 9 at 5:30 p.m. at 351 S. Reynolds in La Grange. The public is invited to attend as guests to go over the business of the past year.
Flag Retirement Ceremony
American Legion Post 602 Shelby invites all Veterans and the pulic to a flag retirement ceremony and breakfast on Saturday, June 11 at the post headquarters located at 4019 FM 1457 in Shelby. Breakfast from 8-10 a.m. with a free will donation. Flag retirement at 10:15 a.m. Bring your unserviceable flags.
Spring/Summer Second Saturday
The Fayette County Community Theatre is hosting its monthly Spring/Summer Second Saturday Session June 11, from 9-11 a.m. at the FCCT Box Office and Studio located at 120 S. Washington St. in La Grange. This month’s session is painting and is open to everyone five years and up. Seats are limited. St. James BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club will hold a BBQ and the Episcopal Women will hold a bake sale Saturday, June 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken will be $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of Mini Horse Helpers. The barbecue will open at 10:30 a.m. with no drive through preorders prior to 10:30 a.m.
Florida Chapel Cemetery
The Florida Chapel Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting on Sunday, June 12 at 2 p.m. at the Muesse Chapel. Election of officers will be held. The meeting is open to the public. St. Rose Annual Parish Picnic
St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg will hold its annual parish picnic on Sunday, June 12 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 405 South St. Masses that day will be at 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. A meal featuring fried chicken, sausage, potatoes, sauerkraut, and green beans will be served at the K. of C. Hall for $12 per plate. Drive-through starts at 10:30 a.m. while dine-in (which includes dessert and tea) begins at 11 a.m. A bake sale will be available in the drive-through line. The biergarten will open at 11 a.m. and, in addition, refreshments will include R&R Shaved Ice. Food, available starting at 3 p.m., includes hamburgers, tamales, and fruit. The Czechaholics will be featured outside from noon to 4 p.m. Inside the hall, Mark Halata & Texavia will play from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A live and online auction starts at 12:30 p.m. (http://charityauction.bid/ strosechurch). Ammannsville Picnic
St. John the Baptist Church in Ammannsville located on FM 1383 will hold its annual Picnic on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 19. Mass will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Stop and enjoy a golden fried chicken and sausage dinner served from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. All plates are $12, dine in or to go. The country auction will take place at 1 p.m. Other activities include a cake walk, bingo, ring toss, duck pond, snow cones, and hamburgers at 4 p.m. Enjoy music during the day and night by Moravians and Czehaholics.
Sports Camp at First Baptist Church

Vacation Bible School
St. Paul Lutheran Church of La Grange invites children of the community who have completed kindergarten through fifth grades to Vacation Bible School, June 27 through July 1 from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The day camp will be led by a very energetic Lutherhill staff. Lessons, games, arts and crafts, music and snacks will fill the day. Stop by the church office at 427 S. Washington to pick up a registration form.
