The American Legion Post and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. The Post is asking for maximum participation and would really like to see new members come and see what the American Legion is all about. The Auxiliary is also inviting members to attend and support the works they do for the Veterans and their families. New members are always welcome. A light meal will be served, with the regular business meetings to follow.
The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host game day on Thursday, Aug. 14 from 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. Praha Picnic
St. Mary’s Church-Praha will host the 170th Praha Picnic on Friday, Aug. 15 with Mass beginning at 10 a.m. Enjoy Praha stew and fried chicken. Plates are $15 dine in or to go. Serving begins at 11 a.m. Enjoy a cake walk, country store, ring toss and much more. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Fayette County is proud to offer an opportunity for those with an interest in preparing for the future to join us on Wednesday, Aug. 20 for Preserving Family Heritage Estate and Legal Planning Seminar. The registration fee includes a meal, conference proceedings, and refreshments throughout the seminar.
Anderson Memorial Fundraiser
As a result of Sgt. Travis Anderson with the La Grange Police Department passing away a memorial fundraiser in his memory has been started. The date for the fundraiser will be Saturday, Aug. 16 and it will be held at the La Grange KC Hall. Start that day with a special Celebration of Life for Sgt. Anderson at 3 p.m. After the Celebration of Life service at 5 p.m. the fund raiser that will open the start of a silent auction. At 6 p.m. a catered meal of grilled pork steak, buttered taters, and green beans will be served by the KC Hall. At 7 p.m. a live auction will begin with Lee Fritsch serving as the auctioneer. The Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club at the Round Top Area Historical Society (RTAHS) announces its first film of the 2025 season, “On the Beach” starring Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner for Saturday, Aug. 16 at the Jaehne pavilion on the historical campus at 397 E. Mill St. Round Top behind the US Post Office. The film will start at 10 a.m. and end at 12:15 p.m. Join earlier for breakfast at 9 a.m. for coffee, juice, Belgium waffle, sausage and fruit. STEM Workshops Offered
The Round Top Family Library will host a free 5-week STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) workshop with instructor Peter Kieke. The workshops will be held once weekly in October-November on Tuesdays. In this class we will be covering many different topics including Lego robotics projects, game development using Roblox Studio, and computer aided design (CAD) for 3D printing. The Swiss Alp Dance Club is having a dance Sunday, Aug. 17, at the Schulenburg Hall located at 405 West St. in Schulenburg. The Dujka Brothers will be providing live music from 2-5:30 p.m. The public is always welcome.

VFW Post 5254 & Auxiliary Meeting Members of both of the VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange are asked to come out and participate in the upcoming monthly meetings being held at the VFW Post Home at the La Grange Fairgrounds on Tuesday, Aug. 19. The Auxiliary meets at 5 p.m. and at 6 p.m. the Post and Auxiliary will enjoy a meal, after which the Post meets. Beekeepers Association Meeting
The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will meet on the first Saturday of every month at the Fayette County Agriculture Building in La Grange, located at 255 Svoboda Ln. For anyone interested in learning about beekeeping, there will be a Beekeeping 101 Honey Bee Biology presentation from 4:30-5:30 p.m. A potluck dinner will follow, please bring your favorite entrée, side or dessert to share. Afterwards, there will be a business meeting, an open discussion on bee-things, and a guest presentation it is also a great opportunity to meet up with experienced beekeepers who can serve as mentors and advisors. Membership dues for 2025 are $25/year, individual or family. Membership is not required to attend meetings, FaycoBeeks welcomes all attendees and encourages beekeepers and their families to join. Proper Flag Disposal Drop Off Locations The Texas Heroes Museum located at 171 S. Main in La Grange accepts old flags for proper disposal. The drop-off bin is inside the museum which is open 1-4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. If leaving flags outside the door when the museum is closed, please have them in a plastic bag or a box so that they are not laying on the ground.
Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings

Loss of a Spouse Support Group will be held monthly on the third Tuesday of every month from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Hospice Brazos Valley office.
