No Summer Lunch

In Tuesday’s edition we had information about free summer lunches from LGISD. We have now gotten word from cafeteria director Nancy Fritsch-Tielsch that LGISD “will not be able to provide Curbside Meals in June and July.”

Adult Yoga in RT

Adult yoga with instructor Betty Melton is held on Mondays at 5 p.m. in the Round Top Family Library 206 W. Mill St. in Round Top.

Gaming Party

The Round Top Family Library will host a senior citizen gaming party from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, May 29. Refreshments will be served and you may win a prize. La Bahia Cemetery

A decoration and memorial ceremony will take place at La Bahia Cemetery on Sunday, May 29 starting at 2:30 p.m. St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton is in charge of the service. The cemetery is located at 809 Boundary School Rd. Call (979) 278-3561 for more information.

Memorial Day Ceremony

Save the date for Monday, May 30 at 10 a.m. Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home and Cremations located at 208 W. Pearl in La Grange will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony for a time to remember and honor local veterans. Entertainment and a free barbecue lunch will be provided.

A.M.E.N. Food Pantry

The A.M.E.N. Food Pantry will be closed Monday, May 30 for Memorial Day and will open to serve Tuesday, May 31 at 9 a.m. until noon.

Memorial Day Garbage Schedule

City of La Grange offices will be closed Monday, May 30 for Memorial Day. Waste Management garbage and recycle service will be on their regular schedule.

Hermann Sons Life Meeting

Hermann Sons Life Rutersville will meet Wednesday, June 1 at 7 p.m. at the lodge hall. Members are asked to bring a main dish and a side or dessert for our potluck meal.

Food Truck in Fayetteville

The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at St. John’s Hall parking lot in Fayetteville on Thursday, June 2 from 10 to 11 a.m. It is a drive-thru distribution with clients staying in their vehicle.

Cernoch Family Reunion

Descendents of John and Maria Cernoch will meet Saturday, June 4, at the Dubina KJT Hall for the 35th biennial family reunion. Registration begins at 11 a.m. Lunch will be around noon, followed by family meeting, raffle, silent auction, dessert contest and mystery competition. Family Mass will be at 4 p.m. at the St. Cyril and Methodius Church. Each family is asked to bring covered dish foods of a meat, vegetable, and dessert. Eating utensils and drinks will be furnished. Summertime Classic Bike Ride

The Good Old Summertime Classic Bike Ride will be held on Sunday, June 5 beginning at 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. that morning. This is a charity ride and all net proceeds go to FISD athletics and academics. It is also a MS150 sanctioned training ride. There are several routes from which to choose or to combine. All begin and end on the historic town square between 7:30-8:30 a.m. Pavement routes of 16, 37 or 50 miles and “almost-all-gravel” routes of 17 or 61 miles. A complimentary barbecue lunch for all riders and volunteers will be served until 2 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church. The day before, Saturday, June 4 a fun ride begins at 4 p.m. on the town square followed by a reception at the Old Fire Station on the square from 6 to 8 p.m.

Eichler-Kieke Reunion

The Eichler-Kieke family reunion will be held Sunday, June 5 at La Bahia Hall on Hwy. 237. Happy hour will be held at 11 a.m. with a silent auction at 12. Calling All Parade Lovers

The Juneteenth Committee welcomes the public to participate in the Saturday, June 18, Juneteenth Parade in La Grange, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Applications are available at www.juneteenthtexas.org and are due no later than June 10. Juneteenth Pageant Participants Wanted

The Juneteenth Committee invites all area youth ages three though eighteen to participate in the Mr. and Miss Juneteenth Pageant to be held June 18. The deadline to sign up for this event is June 1.
