Summer Lunch
La Grange ISD will serve good nutritious meals during the summer for local children 18 years and under. Summer curbside breakfast and lunch meals may be picked up on Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. beginning June 1 and ending July 29 at the bus drop off at 192 S. Vail St.
Sheriff’s Possse
Fayette County Sheriff’s Posse monthly meeting will be held Monday, May 23 at the posse arena on FM 609 at 6 p.m.
Winedale Talk
Join Winedale on Tuesday, May 24 at noon for its monthly online talk, “Pistols for Two, Coffee for One: The Art of the 19th Century American Duel.” In September 1826, Sam Houston fought a duel in Tennessee. Oddly enough, neither Houston nor the man he dueled had any animosity for each other but instead were entangled by the 19th century Code Duello. Join Derrick Birdsall, director of the Sam Houston Memorial Museum, who will discuss Houston’s 1826 duel and the code that he fought by. Juneteenth Parade
The Juneteenth Committee welcomes the public to participate in the Saturday, June 18, Juneteenth Parade in La Grange, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Applications are available at www. juneteenthtexas.org and are due no later than June 10. La Grange Garden Club Meeting
The La Grange Garden Club will meet at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 26 in the backyard of the Faison House, located at the corner of S. Jefferson and Live Oak St. for their annual lunch and meeting. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided and members are reminded to bring a folding chair to assist with seating. All members are encouraged to attend this very important meeting and also bring a plant for the traditional plant exchange. Visitors and guests are also welcome. Senior Citizen Gaming Party

Decoration & Memorial Ceremony
A decoration and memorial ceremony will take place at La Bahia Cemetery on Sunday, May 29 starting at 2:30 p.m. St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton is in charge of the service. The cemetery is located at 809 Boundary School Rd. Call (979) 278-3561 for more information.
Memorial Day Ceremony
Save the date for Monday, May 30 at 10 a.m. Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home and Cremations located at 208 W. Pearl in La Grange will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony for a time to remember and honor local veterans. Entertainment and a free barbecue lunch will be provided.
Memorial Day Garbage Schedule
City of La Grange offices will be closed Monday, May 30 for Memorial Day. Waste Management garbage and recycle service will be on their regular schedule.
Juneteenth Pageant Participants Wanted
The Juneteenth Committee invites all area youth ages three though eighteen to participate in the Mr. and Miss Juneteenth Pageant to be held June 18. The deadline to sign up for this event is June 1. Cernoch Family Reunion
Descendents of John and Maria Cernoch will meet Saturday, June 4, at the Dubina KJT Hall for the 35th biennial family reunion. Registration begins at 11 a.m. Lunch will be around noon, followed by family meeting, raffle, silent auction, dessert contest and mystery competition. Family Mass will be at 4 p.m. at the St. Cyril and Methodius Church. Each family is asked to bring covered dish foods of a meat, vegetable, and dessert. Eating utensils and drinks will be furnished. The Eichler-Kieke family reunion will be held Sunday, June 5 at La Bahia Hall on Hwy. 237. Happy hour will be held at 11 a.m. with a silent auction at noon.
