VFW, Auxiliary

Fayette Memorial VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will meet on Tuesday, May 17 at the Post Home at the Fairgrounds. The Auxiliary will meet at 5 p.m. Then at 6 p.m. a joint Loyalty Day program and catered meal will begin; and spouses are welcome. Afterwards, the VFW Post will meet.

LG Roadrunners

The La Grange Roadrunners continue to meet and dance at the Randolph Rec Center located at 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange every Tuesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. with the first hour being for lessons. Anyone with square dancing experience is invited to join. New lessons will begin in the fall for those with no experience but want to learn. Square dancing is a great way to make friends and get exercise for the mind and body. Round dancing lessons will be held at 5:45 until 7 p.m. each Tuesday. New lessons for twostep dancing will begin. New dancers are encouraged to come this coming Tuesday, May 17 to get the full benefit of the classes.

Book Signing

The Fayette Heritage Museum and Archives is proud to sponsor a program given by Dr. Tom Alter, II of Texas State University about his new book, Toward A Cooperative Commonwealth: The Transplanted Roots of Farmer-Labor Radicalism in Texas. Signed copies of his book, which follows the influence of three generations of a local German immigrant family, the Meitzens, will be available for purchase after the program on Thursday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the La Grange Public Library meeting room, 855 S. Jefferson Street.

Friends of Bluebonnet Opry

Friends of the Bluebonnet Opry will be held Thursday, May 19 at the Silver Wings Ballroom located at 4100 Hwy. 105 in Brenham. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and shows starts at 7:30 p.m. Grill is open for great tasting food and tickets are $8. For more information, call (979) 451-0816. Funds will be donated to Hospice Brazos Valley.

Historic Walking Tour

The La Grange Main Street program is sponsoring the semi-annual Historic Walking Tour of downtown La Grange on Saturday, May 21. The tour begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Historic Casino Hall on N. Jefferson St. This is a free event but you must reserve a space. The tour lasts approximately two hours. Call (979) 968-3017 to reserve a space.

Muldoon VFD Barbecue Fundraiser

The Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department will have a barbecue pulled pork sandwich drive-thru fundraiser on Saturday, May 21 at the Muldoon Station. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be presale only. The cutoff date is May 14. The price is $10 and will include a large pork sandwich, sausage link, chips and a cookie. The Muldoon Museum will also have a drive-thru bake sale at the station. The museum will be open for visitors starting at 10:30 a.m. Come out to visit the museum, pick up your fundraiser meal and if you wish, eat it at the Community Park. Republican Women Monthly Meeting

The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, May 19 at JW’s Steakhouse in Carmine. The guest speaker will be Cindy Villarreal, Executive Director of Navidad Valley Community Connections, a non-profit organization which provides social activities for mobile seniors in the Weimar, Schulenburg, Flatonia, and Hallettsville areas. Work Force Solutions Ribbon Cutting

The grand opening for the new Workforce Solutions of Fayette County Workforce Center is Thursday, May 19 at 2 p.m. The new office is located at 851 S. Reynolds St., Suite 200 in La Grange.

La Grange Chamber Spring Mixer

The La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce will have their Spring Mixer hosted by Sunago Advisory Group on May 19 from 5-7 p.m. at 127 W. Colorado in La Grange.

Central Texas Food Bank

Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the junction FM 1291 and FM 2145 on Friday, May 20 from 10 until 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are advised to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be pre-packaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers. Notice: face masks are no longer required. Central Texas Food Bank has decided to move Waldeck Food Truck to the third Saturday of every month starting in June from 10 to 11 a.m.

New Exhibit & Gallery Talk

Documentary and lifestyle photographer April Frazier will open a new exhibit, “Frame of Reference,” at the Fayette Heritage Museum and Archives, 855 S. Jefferson St. in La Grange, with a gallery talk at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 21. Frazier will discuss the 20-year journey of discovering her African-American roots, which led her back six generations to rural Muldoon in Fayette County.

Fundraiser for Deputy Wilson

A fundraiser to help with medical bills for Bastrop County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Sawyer Wilson, who was shot in the line of duty, is being held Saturday, May 21 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Bastrop American Legion located at 3003 Loop 150 E in Bastrop. This event is being hosted by Thin Blue Line LEMC. Live music from 1-4 p.m. Come enjoy pulled pork sliders and burgers, silent auction, raffle tickets and a poker run.

Ledbetter Community Game Day

Ledbetter Community Game Day will be Tuesday, May 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adults of all ages are invited for a time of games, visiting with neighbors, and a delicious lunch. Board games, table games, card games, and Domino games. Everyone is invited to the Ledbetter Community Center at 301 W. Labadie Street (the Ledbetter Fire Dept.) in Ledbetter. The event is sponsored by Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department and Soul Café. Lunch is $5 per person. RT-C ISD Pre-K Registration

Parents wishing to register their child for Pre-K in the Round Top-Carmine ISD may do so any time after April 1. Children must be 4 years of age by Sept. 1 and meet one of the criteria as listed on the elementary school website at www.rtcisd.net/Domain/108.

Flatonia Lady Bulldog Athletic Camps
