Legion, Auxiliary
The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 11 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive in La Grange. The nominating committee presented the slate of Officers at the April meeting. The election of the 2022-2023. Officers for both the Post and the Unit will take place at the May meeting. Members are encouraged to attend. A meal will be served following
Field Day
A Pasture and Nutrition Field Day will be held on Wednesday, May 11 from at 5-8 p.m. at Harmonie Hall, 509 FM 389, in Fayetteville. Registration will be from 4:30-5 p.m. The program goes from 5-7 p.m. with dinner served at 7 p.m. One CEU credit in IPM will be offered to Pesticide Applicator License Holders. This is a free event. Birthday Bingo
First United Methodist Church in La Grange will host Sages & Saints Birthday Bingo on Thursday, May 12 from 5-7 p.m. Enjoy finger sandwiches, cake and homemade ice cream at the Fellowship Hall. Join and celebrate everyone’s birthday and enjoy playing games. The church is located at 1215 N. Von Minden in La Grange.
Feed The Need
Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.
Widowed Spouses Support Group
Hospice Brazos Valley will host a Grief Support Group on the third Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 1l:30 a.m. for anyone who is grieving the loss of a spouse. Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support
Hospice Brazos Valley will host a Alzheimer’s or Dementia Support Group and will meet on the second Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Hospice Brazos Valley is located at 1048 N. FCCT Spring Production
Fayette County Community Theatre will hold their spring production, a hilarious comedy, The Play That Goes Wrong, at the Sanford Schmid Amphitheater on the grounds of the Texas Czech Heritage Center on May 13, 14, and 15. Bake Sale #FightingForCesar
A bake sale benefitting Cesar Villasana will be held on Saturday, May 14, starting at 9 a.m. in front of Julie B in downtown La Grange. Cesar is currently at Texas Children’s Hospital fighting his second round of ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). Please help ease the burden of the back and forth trips, medical bills, and missing work to be by his side. Schulenburg Hoops Basketball Tourney

St. James BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club will hold a barbecue and the Episcopal Women will hold a bake sale Saturday, May 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken will be $6 and sausage link is $7. Drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of Arts for Rural Texas. The drive thru will open at 10:30 a.m. with no pre-orders prior.
Old High Hill Cemetery Meeting
The Old High Hill Cemetery Association annual business meeting will be held on Sunday, May 15 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Hall located at 712 Summit St. in Schulenburg. All members, family, and descendants of those buried in the cemetery are encouraged to attend and participate in this important meeting which will be the first inperson meeting since 2019 due to COVID.
Slavnost Fest
The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Event Center presents Slavnost “ May Fest” celebrating 26 years on Sunday, May 15. The anniversary and recognition ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. and a meal will be served at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $12 per person and includes the meal and all events. Music by the Czechaholics Band. Fun for the whole family including the Czech village and museum tours, classic car show, gift shop, raffle drawing, country store and pastry shop. Food and drinks will be available all day. TCHCC is located at 250 West Fairgrounds Rd in La Grange.
Drawe Cemetery Association Meeting
The Drawe Cemetery Association will hold its annual business meeting at the Drawe Cemetery located on Schulle Road near Warrenton, on Sunday, May 15 beginning at 3 p.m. Bring a lawn chair. Mt. Calvary Church Picnic & Auction
Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and Preschool’s 27th annual church picnic will be held on Sunday, May 15 at the La Grange Knights of Columbus Hall at 190 S. Brown St. La Grange. Rev. Jason Kaspar will be leading worship service at 9 a.m. (casual dress okay). Barbecue meal with a half chicken, noodles, green beans, and all the trimmings will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All plates are $12, dine in or drive thru. There will be children’s activities, silent auctions, a live auction beginning at 12:30 p.m. and live music provided by Rabb’s Creek Band. Hamburgers and sausage wraps available for purchase in the afternoon. Raffle prize winners will be drawn throughout the live auction. Meal and raffle tickets may be purchased at La Grange Chevron, Lukas Bakery, Weikel’s Bakery, or the church office and preschool. Plum Hermann Sons Meeting
The Plum Hermann Sons Life May meeting will be held Monday, May 16 beginning at 4 p.m. at the Prairie Valley Schoolhouse located at 2510 Williams Rd. in West Point. The meal will be provided by the lodge and members are asked to bring desserts.
Farm Bureau Bi-Monthly Meeting
The Swiss Alp/Dubina/Ammannsville Farm Bureau will hold its bi-monthly meeting Tuesday, May 17 at the Swiss Alp Hall, between La Grange and Schulenburg on U.S. Hwy. 77. The social will be at 6:30 p.m. with pot luck dinner following at 7 p.m. The program will be presented by Frank Smith with the Texas Ramp Project. Members are asked to bring a food dish or dessert. Special guests will be the four scholarship winners for 2022: Amanda Urban, Blake Meyer, Jordan Sommer and Blane Warnken. Guests are always welcome
RT Family Library Presents

Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department
The Muldoon Fire Department will have a drive-thru barbecue fundraiser on Saturday, May 21 at the station located at 333 N. 3rd St. in Muldoon. at 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Plates include a large pulled pork sandwich, sausage link, chips and a cookie. Vietnam Veterans Meeting
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
LG Summer Soccer Camp
The LG Soccer Camp for boys and girls in grades kindergarten through 8th grade (for 2022-23 school year) will take place on July 18-20. Registration forms can be picked up at any of the campus offices (elementary/intermediate/middle school) or from any PE/Athletics coach. Those registering by May 27 are guaranteed a camp t-shirt. Camp days will be broken up by sessions: Session I (K-3) from 5:30-7:00; Session II (4-8) from 7:00-8:30. Cost is $40 by May 27, $45 on or after May 28. Cash or checks made out to LGISD.
