Guild Bake Sale
The Mt. Calvary Mary Martha Guild will host the return of its annual Mother’s Day Bake Sale in front of National Bank & Trust on the courthouse square on Friday, May 6 beginning at 8 to 11 a.m. or until sold out. Baked goods available will include cakes, pies, brownies, cookies, cupcakes and other home baked items. Free will donations. Funds raised will be used by the Guild to support various local outreach projects.
ARTS ArtWalk
ArtWalk in Fayetteville will be held Saturday, May 7 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 8 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Treat yourself with a variety of fine art from quality artists and artisans. Enjoy live music, wine tastings, children’s activities and more. Shake Russell accompanied by guitarist Anthony Klonaris performes Saturday at 7 p.m. Sixty artists will exhibit work on the square and wine tasting, food and other attractions. Legendary Texas screenwriter William Broyles, Jr. will present Twenty Five Years Later: The Hidden Messages of “Apollo 13” and “Cast Away” at St. Cecilia’s Haw Creek Chapel in Round Top on Saturday, May 7 at 5:45 p.m.
Team Roping
Fayette County Sheriff’s Posse “Wild Bill Belso” Memorial Team Roping event will be held Friday May 6 at the rodeo arena on FM 609. Books open at 7 p.m. with roping to begin at 8 p.m. The cost is $125 per man – Enter 1 Draw 2. They reserve the right to reclassify. Buckles and knives will be given to winners. The Museum will be open to visitors on Saturday, May 7 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Anniversary and Country Festival
Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Frelsburg will celebrate it’s 175th Anniversary on Sunday, May 8. Holy Mass at 8:30 a.m. and Latin Mass at 10:30 a.m. A fried fish with buttered potatoes, hush puppies, cole slaw, pinto beans, bread, pickles and tea will be served. Large plates are $15 and small plates are $12. Dine in begins at 11 a.m. and drive-thru plates to go are available from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. The live aucion begins at 1 p.m. Enjoy the country store, raffle, ring toss, kids games and a silent auction. Retired Teachers Meeting
The Fayette County Retired Teachers’ Association will meet on Monday, May 9 at the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church located at 1215 Von Minden in La Grange. The social time will begin at 1:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 2 p.m. The guest speaker will be Peggy O’Neill. All retired public school employees are welcome to attend these meetings, even if retired from another city, county, or state. American Legion, Auxiliary Meeting
The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 11 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive in La Grange. The nominating committee presented the slate of Officers at the April meeting. The election of the 2022-2023. Officers for both the Post and the Unit will take place at the May meeting. Members are encouraged to attend. A meal will be served following the meeting.
Sages & Saints Birthday Bingo
First United Methodist Church in La Grange will host Sages & Saints Birthday Bingo on Thursday, May 12 from 5-7 p.m. Enjoy finger sandwiches, cake and homemade ice cream at the Fellowship Hall. Join and celebrate everyone’s birthday and enjoy playing games. The church is located at 1215 N. Von Minden in La Grange.
Bake Sale #FightingForCesar
A bake sale benefitting Cesar Villasana will be held on Saturday, May 14, starting at 9 a.m. in front of Julie B in downtown La Grange. Cesar is currently at Texas Children’s Hospital fighting his second round of ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). Please help ease the burden of the back and forth trips, medical bills, and missing work to be by his side. Schulenburg Hoops Basketball Tourney

Old High Hill Cemetery
The Old High Hill Cemetery Association annual business meeting will be held on Sunday, May 15 at St. Paul’s Hall, 712 Summit St., in Schulenburg at 2 p.m. All members, family, and descendants of those buried in the cemetery are encouraged to attend and participate in this important meeting, the first in-person meeting since 2019 due to COVID. The Old High Hill Cemetery is located about three miles northwest of Schulenburg on FM 2672.
Plum Hermann Sons Meeting
The Plum Hermann Sons Life May meeting will be held Monday, May 16 beginning at 4 p.m. at the Prairie Valley Schoolhouse located at 2510 Williams Rd. in West Point. The meal will be provided by the lodge and members are asked to bring desserts.
Country Gospel Hour
The next Country Gospel Hour at The Lyric Theater in Flatonia will be on Sunday, June 12 at 4 p.m. As always, admission is free and all are welcome. There is no May show due to the Mother’s Day holiday.
La Grange Boys Basketball Camp
The La Grange Leopard boys Summer Basketball Camp will be held June 20-22 at the High School gym. Registration is May 6-10 to ensure a t-shirt printing before camp. Cost is $45. Equipment needed is appropriate athletic wear, tennis shoes and a water bottle. Make checks payable to LGISD.
