Spring Cleanup
The City of La Grange will have the annual Spring Cleanup week April 19-23 during which one free load of brush will be picked up and roll off containers will be available to residential utility customers at the City Service Center. Firemen’s Feast
A barbecue chicken and sausage dinner with all the trimmings for $12 will be held Sunday, April 24 at the Ellinger C of C Hall. Serving in the hall starts at 11 a.m. and drive thru plates begin at 10:30 a.m. Barbecue chicken to go sold at the pits for $10 per chicken. The auction begins at 1:30 p.m. under the outdoor pavilion. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to purchase new firefighting equipment.
Spiritual Concert
The Mette Family Band has traveled to 44 of the 50 States and performed concerts that build on the richness of the Catholic faith. The band will hold a concert Sunday, April 24 at the Hostyn Parish Pavilion at 6 p.m. No tickets required and is free will donation. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Easter Cantata
The Chancel Choir of First United Methodist Church invites everyone to their presentation of “With Christ, Arising” an Easter Cantata on Sunday, April 24 at 9 a.m. worship or come at 3 p.m. for an afternoon performance. Led by Nancy Hajek, Choir Director and Accompanied by Ruby McGill with special narrations and solos.
Curb-Side Bulk Trash Pickup
The City of La Grange has designated Saturday, April 23 as Residential Bulk Curbside Pick-Up Day for the hard to dispose of bulky items that are difficult for you to take to our drop off during our semiannual cleanup. Waste Management will pick up one free load of bulky items on this day. All items should be within three feet of the curb by 5 p.m. on Friday. Trucks will be starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday morning to pick up items from the entire city. Bulk items include: stoves, refrigerators and air conditioners which have been tagged and certified as being “freon free” by a licensed technician, microwaves, water heaters, washing machines/dryers, barbeques, mattresses, chairs, recliners, couches and other furniture. Bulk items not accepted: tires, paint, chemicals, batteries, tile/toilets/bath tubs, mirrors/glass, cinder blocks/bricks/rocks, construction debris, televisions/computer monitors, motor oil or used filters. Mt. Calvary Decoration Day
Decoration Day at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Cemetery located on the Old Plum Highway will be observed at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 24 with a remembrance service. Everyone is invited to attend, especially families and friends of departed loved ones. You may want to bring a chair for your comfort. Soul Cafe Fun Run, Crawfish Boil
The Soul Cafe Church will host its 7th Annual 5K Fun Run and Crawfish Boil on Sunday, April 24 starting at 9 a.m. at the Ledbetter Community Center located at 301 W. Labadie St. in Ledbetter. This event is open to the community with free admission.
Decoration/Memorial Service
The Decoration and Memorial service for the Waldeck Cemetery will be held on Sunday, April 24 at the Waldeck Cemetery beginning at 2 p.m. A business meeting will follow the service, and light refreshments will be served.
German Society Meeting
The Texas German Society of La Grange, Fayette County Chapter, will have their meeting on Monday, April 25 at 4 p.m. at the Randolph Rec. Center, with the La Grange High School German Class students in attendance. All members and guests are invited to attend.
Ledbetter Community Game Day
The Ledbetter Community Game Day will be Tuesday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adults of all ages are invited for a time of games, visiting with neighbors, and a delicious lunch. Game Day will consist of board games, table games, card games, and Domino games. Everyone is invited to the Ledbetter Community Center at 301 W. Labadie Street (the Ledbetter Fire Dept.) in Ledbetter. The event is sponsored by Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department and Soul Café. Lunch is $5 per person. Shelby Cemetery Decoration Day
The Shelby Cemetery Decoration Day will be held Sunday, April 24 at 2 p.m. The cemetery is located at 5019 Voelkel in Shelby.
Court Annunciation No. 1962
Court Annunciation No. 1962, La Grange, will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, April 25 at the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewcz Center in La Grange at 6:30 p.m. Members are encouraged to attend and prospective members are always welcome.
LG Elementary Pre-K/K Round-Up
La Grange Elementary will have a Pre-K/Kindergarten Roundup on April 26 from 4 until 6 p.m. Children who plan to attend Pre-K/Kindergarten at La Grange Elementary for the 2022-2023 school year are invited to attend. This event is for students who are eligible for enrollment for Pre-K who will be four years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2022. This is also for students who are entering Kindergarten who will be five years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2022. If you have any questions, contact the La Grange Elementary School at (979) 968-4100.
Ellinger City Council
The Ellinger City Council will have a venue change for the April meeting. The meeting will be in the City Hall at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 28.
La Grange Garden Club Meeting
The La Grange Garden Club will meet at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 28 at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange, for their regular meeting. This is a very important meeting which will include the election of officers and a presentation by the Faison Preservation Society regarding the Faison House which the Club has owned since 1962. RT Hermann Sons Life Meeting
This month’s meeting of the Round Top Hermann Sons Life Lodge No. 151 will be on Thursday, April 28 at the Quade-Werchan American Legion Post at Round Top beginning at 6 p.m. with a social time. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.with a meal to follow. This month the Lodge will provide the meal. The members are asked to bring a side salad or dessert to share.
