Legion, Auxiliary
The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 13 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Dr. in La Grange. New potential members are invited to attend, and member attendance is encouraged to discuss business matters. A light meal will be served following the meeting.
Noon Lions
W.O. Wood and Arnold Romberg will be speaking about Fayette County Railroad Scenes on Thursday April 14, from noon to 1 p.m. at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club in La Grange as part of the La Grange Noon Lions Club meeting.
Meeting Cancelled
The La Grange Hermann Sons Lodge 8 quarterly meeting set for Thursday, April 14, is cancelled. The next meeting will be scheduled for July 14 at Riverside Cafe.
Holiday Schedule
La Grange City offices will be closed Friday, April 15 in observance of Good Friday. Waste Management will be working their normal garbage schedule. If you need additional information, call (979) 968-3127.
Musical Meditation
St. Cecilia’s Good Friday Musical Meditation with Father Bill Miller and the Elias Haslanger quartet will take place on April 15 at 6:45 p.m. at the Edythe Bates Old Chapel at Festival Hill. No charge. All are welcome.
Food Bank Truck
The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the junction FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Friday, April 15 from 10 until 11 a.m. It will be drivethru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are advised to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be pre-packaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers.
Special Musical Service Good Friday
As part of its observances of Holy Week, St. James Episcopal Church in La Grange, will present a special musical and narrative service at 3 p.m. on Good Friday, April 15. The Gospel story of Christ’s Passion will be told in the style of Reader’s Theatre, directed by Dr. James Ayres. A choir composed of singers from several area churches will present musical selections at key intervals in the narration. Musical direction is by Don Kirby, accompaniment by Mary Ann Hatfield. Texas Heroes Museum
The Texas Heroes Museum will be closed Saturday, April 16, for the Easter Holiday. Visit the museum the following Saturday, April 23, to honor the 80th anniversary of the Doolittle Tokyo Raid. Visit the museum’s Facebook page to learn more of this historic event and the Texans who participated.
Easter Egg Hunt in Warda

Lions Classic Car Show
The Fayetteville Lions Club Classic Car Show will be held Saturday, April 16 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. around the square in Fayetteville. Antique, classic, hot rod or truck entries are exhibited around Fayetteville’s Historic Square. Admission is free.
Egg Hunt at Monument Hill
Monument Hill State Historic Site will host an Easter egg hunt from 5-8 p.m. with hunt beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 16. Easter bonfire begins at 7:45 p.m. Admission is the regular admission price of the park.
Freyburg United Methodist Easter
Freyburg United Methodist Church invites everyone to its Easter Sunday Sunrise Service to be held Sunday, April 17 at 7:30 a.m. Following the service, a brunch will be served in the Fellowship Haus. Easter Sunrise Service
Join the La Grange Area Ministerial Alliance for a short Easter Sunrise service at Monument Hill State Historical Site at 7 a.m. on April 17. Bring your own chair. Proclaim the resurrection at the rising of the sun.
Rutersville Cemetery Association
The Rutersville Cemetery Association will observe Decoration Day on Easter Sunday, April 17. No special services will be held, just remember your loved ones with beautiful flowers.
Ellinger Hermann Sons Life
The Ellinger Hermann Sons Life Lodge will meet on Monday, April 18 at the Ellinger Fire Station at 6 p.m.
Secure Document Shred Day
The City of La Grange, the La Grange Police Department and the La Grange Citizens Police Academy are pleased to announce that, in conjunction with the Spring Clean Up, the city will host a “Secure Document Shred Day” on Saturday, April 23. This event is being held to assist citizens in shredding documents which might have confidential information on them. The shred event will be held at the La Grange Police Department located at 243 S. College from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. (Noon) on April 23. This is a free service to the customers of La Grange Utilities. Anyone bringing items to be shredded are asked to bring a City of La Grange utility bill with you in order to participate in this program. Items accepted are paper, magazines, credit cards and documents with staples, binder clips or paperclips. Items that will not be accepted are boxes, cardboard, floppy disks, hard drives, CD’s, and USB drives. Vietnam Veterans Meeting
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the Third Wednesday of each month (This Month will be April 20, at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville, KJT Hall in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be provided after the meeting.VVA Members, AVVA Members, and Prospective Members are invited to attend.
LG Roadrunners Meet Every Tuesday
The La Grange Roadrunners continue to meet and dance at the Randolph Rec. Center located at 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange every Tuesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. with the first hour being for lessons. Anyone with square dancing experience is invited to join. New lessons will begin in the fall for those with no experience but want to learn. Square Dancing is a great way to make friends and get exercise for the mind and body. As a great addition to our square dancing pleasure there is round dancing lessons starting at 5:45 until 7 p.m. each Tuesday. New lessons for the Foxtrot rhythm have just begun, so new dancers are encouraged to come this coming Tuesday, April 12 to get the full benefit of the classes.
