Scholarship
The Fayette Community Foundation is now accepting applications for their 2021-2022 Scholarship. This scholarship offers a minimum of $1,000 to graduating high school and homeschool seniors within an 80- mile radius of La Grange who intend to further their education and training at an accredited college, university, or trade school. Applications can be found at faycofoundation.com or with local high school counselors.
Volunteers Needed
Hospice Brazos Valley is in need of volunteers to help with special events and provide company and support to patients and their families. Fish Fry & Bake Sale
The Hostyn and Plum Scholarship Fund fish fry and bake sale will be held Friday, April 8 at the KC Hall located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Drive-thru plates to go are $12 each. The meal will include fried fish, buttered potatoes, pinto beans and cole slaw. Tickets may be reserved by calling the KC Hall at (979) 968-5117.
Easter at Depot
The old MKT Depot on N. Washington is hosting the first Easter at the Depot on Saturday, April 9 at 10 a.m. Enjoy the Easter egg hunt, picture opportunities with the Easter bunny, a kiddie train ride, games, tours of the depot and cabooses.
Christmas Arts and Crafts

St. James BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club will hold a barbecue and the Episcopal Women will hold a bake sale Saturday, April 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken will be $4 and sausage link is $6. This event is drive-thru only. This barbecue is for the benefit of Hospice Brazos Valley. The drive-thru will open at 10:30 a.m. with no drive through pre-orders prior to 10:30 a.m. Avoid congestion on Travis St. (Hwy. 71) by entering on Colorado St.
FCCT Monthly Workshops
Fayette County Community Theatre is hosting Spring/Summer Second Saturday Sessions. These are monthly workshops on different forms of art. Hermann Sons Life Shelby
Hermann Sons Life Shelby will meet on Sunday, April 10 at Harmonie Hall in Shelby beginning at 5 p.m. The lodge will furnish Frito pie and members attending are asked to bring snacks or side dishes or a dessert .
Lions Classic Car Show
The Fayetteville Lions Club Classic Car Show will be held Saturday, April 16 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. around the square in Fayetteville. Antique, classic, hot rod or truck entries are exhibited around Fayetteville’s Historic Square. Admission is free.
RT-Carmine Kindergarten Round-Up
Round Top-Carmine Elementary will have a Kindergarten Roundup on April 12, at the elementary school from 5 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Children who plan to attend Kindergarten at Round Top-Carmine Elementary for the 2022-2023 school year are invited to attend. Parents are asked to bring their completed enrollment packet, along with all required documents at this time. Enrollment packets are available for download on the rtcisd.net website under the Parent/ Student Resources tab (https://www.rtcisd.net/domain/171). There is also a check off list for the documents needed for enrollment. Packets will be checked by school staff while parents and their student(s) meet with the Kindergarten teacher. Tours of the campus will not be available during the Roundup. Children who will be five years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2022, are eligible for enrollment in the Kindergarten Class for the 2022-2023 school year.
American Legion, Auxiliary Meeting
The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 13 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Dr. in La Grange. New potential members are invited to attend, and member attendance is encouraged to discuss business matters. A light meal will be served following the meeting.
Sons of Hermann Meeting Cancelled
The La Grange Hermann Sons Lodge 8 quarterly meeting set for Thursday, April 14, is cancelled. The next meeting will be scheduled for July 14 at Riverside Cafe.
Holiday Schedule for City Offices

Secure Document Shred Day
The City of La Grange, the La Grange Police Department and the La Grange Citizens Police Academy are pleased to announce that, in conjunction with the Spring Clean Up, the city will host a “Secure Document Shred Day” on Saturday, April 23. This event is being held to assist citizens in shredding documents which might have confidential information on them. The shred event will be held at the La Grange Police Department located at 243 South College from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. (noon) on April 23. This is a free service to the customers of La Grange Utilities. Anyone bringing items to be shredded are asked to bring a City of La Grange utility bill with you in order to participate in this program. Items accepted are paper, magazines, credit cards and documents with staples, binder clips or paperclips. Items that will not be accepted are boxes, cardboard, floppy disks, hard drives, CDs, and USB drives. Pagel Cemetery Clean Up

Roy Koehl Memorial BBQ Plates
Presale tickets only for the Roy Koehl Memorial barbecue fundraiser are on sale now through April 20 at Fayette Savings Bank in La Grange, Fayetteville Bank and Orsak’s Cafe in Fayetteville and Pam’s Hair Fashions in Round Top or from 4-H and FFA members in Fayette County. The meal will be served on Thursday, April 28 in Fayetteville at the Old Fire Station on the square from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and in La Grange at the Bealls parking lot from 5:15-5:45 p.m. The meal will consist of barbecue brisket, buttered potatoes, pinto beans, pickles, onions and sauce catered by Peter’s BBQ for a donation of $12 per ticket. Feed the Need
Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the southeast corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.
Country Gospel Hour
Join the historic Lyric Theater for Country Gospel Hour at 120 E. South Main St. in Flatonia. Country Gospel Hour is held the Second Sunday of each month at 4 p.m. Admission is free.

The Schulenburg Library will have a book sale sponsored by the Schulenburg Friends of the Library beginning Friday, April 26 until Saturday, May 4.

Hospice Brazos Valley will host a Alzheimer’s or Dementia Support Group and will meet on the second Tuesday of each month from 10 until 11 a.m. Hospice Brazos Valley is located at 1048 N. Parkinson’s Support Group
For anyone struggling with the Parkinson’s disease movement disorder, the group has reactivated in La Grange the third Thursday of every month for patients and caregivers.
