American Legion

Hermann Sons Rutersville will hold their August meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 6 beginning at 7 p.m. at the lodge hall. The meal’s main dish will be hot dogs with sides and desserts.

The next meetings of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 and Ladies Auxiliary will be held on Thursday, Aug. 7. The meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. at their facilities located at 1503 N. State Highway 237 in Round Top. The following month, the meetings will be held on Sept. 4. Prior to the meetings a social hour and a catered meal will be held in honor of the Post’s 103rd anniversary and to recognize the students from Round Top-Carmine High School who attended the Girls State and Boys State Conventions this summer. Reservations can be made at the Aug. 7 meeting or through an email to the Post Adjutant Bruce Bockhorn at bockhorn7402@hotmail.com.

All members are encouraged to attend both meetings to address several operational matters and celebrate the work of the post.

Isacc Hill Cemetery Assoc. Meeting

The Isacc Hill Cemetery Association annual meeting will be held on Sunday, Aug. 10 at 2 p.m. in the Round Top Courthouse. All members are encouraged to attend.

Back to School Bingo Bash

A Back-to-School Bingo Bash hosted by La Grange FFA Booster Club at the Ellinger Hall will be held Sunday, Aug. 10. Meal will be served at noon and games start at 1 p.m. Cost is $25 each for ages 5 and up. Ticket includes meal, tea or water, bingo cards. Kids four and under are $5 and includes meal and drink only. Cash raffles will be played (card and bucket) 50/50 raffle. No cash prizes. Contact a booster club member.

Plum Hermann Sons Life

The Plum Hermann Sons Life August meeting will be held Monday, Aug. 11 at 5 p.m. at the Prairie Valley Schoolhouse 2510 Williams Rd. in West Point. Meal and dessert will be provided.

FCCT Fall Auditions

Calling all adult actors, crew members, techies, and other volunteers, Fayette County Community Theatre is holding auditions for its November production of Calendar Girls by Tim Firth. Auditions will be held Aug. 16 and 17 at 5 p.m. at the Sanford Schmid Amphitheater, 250 W. Fairgrounds Road in La Grange. Anderson Memorial Fundraiser

As a result of Sgt. Travis Anderson with the La Grange Police Department passing away a memorial fundraiser in his memory has been started. The date for the fundraiser will be Saturday, Aug. 16 and it will be held at the La Grange KC Hall. Start that day with a special Celebration of Life for Sgt. Anderson at 3 p.m. After the Celebration of Life service at 5 p.m. the fund raiser that will open the start of a silent auction. At 6 p.m. a catered meal of grilled pork steak, buttered taters, and green beans will be served by the KC Hall. At 7 p.m. a live auction will begin with Lee Fritsch serving as the auctioneer. Come Dance With Us

The La Grange Road Runners are hosting beginner square dance lessons Sept. 2 a test run to see how much fun it can be. Lessons will begin Sept. 9 and classes will be 6-7:30 p.m. each Tuesday evening at the Randolph Recreation Center 653 E. Pearl in La Grange. For more information call Lisa (281) 866-5949.

STEM Workshops Offered

The Round Top Family Library will host a free 5-week STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) workshop with instructor Peter Kieke. The workshops will be held once weekly in October-November on Tuesdays. In this class we will be covering many different topics including Lego robotics projects, game development using Roblox Studio, and computer aided design (CAD) for 3D printing. The Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club at the Round Top Area Historical Society (RTAHS) announces its first film of the 2025 season, “On the Beach” starring Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner for Saturday, Aug. 16 at the Jaehne pavilion on the historical campus at 397 E. Mill St. Round Top behind the US Post Office. The film will start at 10 a.m. and end at 12:15 p.m. Join earlier for breakfast at 9 a.m. for coffee, juice, Belgium waffle, sausage and fruit.
