Lenten Services
St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 110 W. Walnut in La Grange, invites you to their Lenten services on Wednesdays, March 16, 23 and 30; and April 6 at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.; Maundy Thursday, April 14 services at 10: 30 a.m. and 6 p.m.; Good Friday service, April 15 at 6 p.m. St. Paul will not hold a service on Saturday, April 16. Easter services will be held at 9 and 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 17.
Legion & Auxiliary
The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 9, at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive in La Grange. New potential members are invited to attend, and member attendance is encouraged to discuss business matters. March being the Anniversary month of the Post, a catered meal will be served following the meeting.
Sages & Saints
Come join for fellowship and fun at during the Sages and Saints meeting on Thursday, March 10, 5 until 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall located at 1215 N. Von Minden Rd. Guest speaker is writer and author Elaine Thomas. There will be a pot luck. Bring a family dish and recipe to share, a salad will be provided.
Fish Fry at KC Hall
A fish fry sponsored by Court Annunciation No. 1962-La Grange Catholic Daughters of the Americas is scheduled for Friday, March 11 from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. at the KC Community Center located 190 S. Brown in La Grange. The meal is drive-thru only and plates are $12. The meal will consist of fried catfish, buttered potatoes, pinto beans and coleslaw. St. James BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club will hold a barbecue and the Episcopal Women will hold a bake sale on Saturday, March 12, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken will be $4 and sausage link is $6. The meal is drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of the Boys & Girls Club of Champion Valley. Note, the drive-thru will open at 10:30 a.m. with no pre-orders prior to 10:30 a.m. Avoid congestion on Travis St. (Hwy. 71) by coming in off Colorado St.
Shelby Turkey Stew
The Shelby American Legion annual turkey stew fundraiser will be held Saturday, March 12 at the Shelby Post 602 located 4019 FM 1457 in Shelby. Bring your own containers. Sale begins at 2 p.m. Cost is $30 a gallon. Baked goods will also be available.
Country Gospel Hour
Please join us on Sunday, March 13, at 4 p.m. for the Country Gospel Hour at the Lyric Theater 120 E. South Main St., Flatonia, Admission is free. All are welcome.
Richter’s Cemetery Assoc. Meeting
The Richter’s Cemetery Association bi-annual meeting will be held on Sunday, March 13 at 11 a.m. at the Round Top Rifle Association Hall. Anyone with an interest in the cemetery is invited to attend.
Retired Teachers’ Meeting
The Fayette County Retired Teachers’ Association will meet on Monday, March 14, at the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church located at 1215 Von Minden in La Grange. The social time will begin at 1:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 2 p.m. Guest speaker will be Karen Vernon from Arts for Rural Texas. All retired public school employees are welcome to attend these meetings, even if retired from another city, county, or state. Women’s Action Guild Meeting
The Women’s Action Guild (WAG) is planning their monthly meeting on the Sunday, March 20 to host their annual Salad Supper. The meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. at Flatonia United Methodist Church in Newman Hall. There is a side entrance on N. Middle St. All women from the Flatonia and surrounding areas are welcome. Vietnam Veterans Meeting
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
Widowed Spouses Support Group
Hospice Brazos Valley will host a Grief Support Group on the third Tuesday of each month from 10 to 1l:30 a.m. for anyone who is grieving the loss of a spouse. Hospice Brazos Valley will host a Alzheimer’s or Dementia Support Group and will meet on the second Tuesday of each month from 10 until 11 a.m. Hospice Brazos Valley is located at 1048 N. Loss of a Child Support Group
