Retired Teachers

The Fayette County Retired Teachers’ Association will have a field trip on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center, 250 W. Fair Grounds Rd. (off Hwy. 77) in La Grange. The tour begins at 10:30 a.m. For more information, call (713) 303-0837. While the association’s name may imply only teachers, all retired personnel are invited, and will be welcomed, even if from another city or county.

Farm Bureau

The Swiss Alp/Dubina/Ammannsville Farm Bureau will meet Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the SAFB Hall between La Grange and Schulenburg on US Hwy. 77. Social will begin at 6 p.m., with pot-luck dinner at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Drew Brossmann, County Commissioner Pct. 4. Members are asked to bring food-dish or dessert. Guests are welcome.

VFW Post No. 5254

VFW Post No. 5254 will meet at the post home on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. No meal will be served.

Fayette County Republican Women

The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 17 at La Grange City Hall, 155 E. Colorado in La Grange. Republican candidates in the three contested races in Fayette County have been invited to speak and take questions from the audience. County Commissioner Pct. 4 Candidates: Drew Brossmann, Stephen Matula. County Judge Candidates: Lori Berger, William Bernsen, Craig Moreau, Dan Mueller. Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 Candidates: Jamie Moreau, Brad Neville, and Victor Weishuhn. Parkinson’s Support Group Meeting

The Parkinson’s Support Group of Fayette and surrounding counties will hold their first meeting of the year on Feb. 17 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange. Patients who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, their caregivers, spouses, family members, and anyone who would like to learn more about this devastating illness are welcome to attend.

Sheriff’s Posse Meeting

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Posse will meet Thursday, Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. at the Fayette County Sheriff’s Posse arena located at 2141 Blankenburg Ln. off of FM 609.

Food Truck in Waldeck

The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the Junction FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Friday, Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are advised to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be pre-packaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers. Health safety guidelines require volunteers to wear facemasks and to social distance. Clients are urged to wear facemasks while in the drive-thru.

Hearth & Home Quilt Show

The “Hearth & Home” quilt show will be held on Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Feb. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fireman’s Training Center in Brenham. The juried show features both contemporary and traditional quilts on display as well as quilts for sale, a boutique, and vendors. Admission is $7 per person and children under age 6 are free. Quilt Show at Winedale

Winedale’s upcoming quilt show, “Connecting Threads: New Acquisitions in the Winedale Quilt Collection,” will be open the weekends of Feb. 18-20 and Feb. 25-27. In this exhibition, five new acquisitions engage in conversation with previously acquired pieces from the Winedale Quilt Collection. Seminar at La Grange Church of Christ

La Grange Church of Christ is hosting a seminar with John Dobbs from Monroe, La. about following Jesus through life’s storms. The seminar will focus on what God has to say to us when life is difficult. The Sunday evening session will specifically focus on grief and loss of a loved one. The seminar is free and open to the public. John will be speaking at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., and 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 20 and 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 21.

City of La Grange Holiday Hours
