Mobile Food Pantry
The Central Texas Food Bank mobile food pantry will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church on Saturday, Aug. 15 from 10-11 a.m. This event is drive-thru only.
St. James Episcopal Church, La Grange, will celebrate its 171st anniversary with a special service on Sunday, Aug. 16, at 9:30 a.m. at its 1885 historic building at 156 N. Monroe St. The services of Holy Communion will follow the 1789 prayer book with Shakespearean type language and music used in the 1850s. Following the service, a “picnic” lunch in the Parish Hall will replicate an early Fayette County meal. Visitors are joyfully encouraged to join us in this celebration.
Show Fund Meeting
A meeting for the La Grange Show Fund will be held Monday, Aug. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office located at 255 Svoboda Lane in La Grange.
Hermann Sons
The Ellinger Hermann Sons will meet on Monday, Aug. 17 at 6 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.
There’s more Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting a monthly meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday, Aug. 17 at 4:30 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Rd. in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.
VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary to Meet
On Tuesday, Aug. 18, Fayette Memorial VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will gather together at 5 p.m. for a social/meal with meetings to follow. This will take place at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 E. Pearl St. Meeting room numbers to be determined. Note the change in gathering time and place.
Stop The Bleed Class
Ally Medical from Bastrop will be conducting a CPR and Stop the Bleed Class on Tuesday, Aug. 18 from 6-9:30 p.m. at Fayette County Gun Club located at 5338 N. Hwy. 77, La Grange. This is a free class and you will get certification upon completion of the course. The class is open to all adults and children ages 10-16, must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. La Grange Blood Drive Aug. 19
A La Grange Community blood drive will be held Wednesday, Aug. 19 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, located at 190 S. Brown St., beginning at 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Eat a full meal before donating and remember to bring your photo ID. Schedule at weareblood.org/donor with group code: DO31.
KJZT St. Anne’s Society Meeting Change The quarterly meeting of KJZT St Anne’s Society No. 10 has been rescheduled to Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 1 p.m. at the Parish Hall. Lunch and social time will follow the meeting. Members are invited to bring food to share.

Mulholland Family Benefit Raffle
Grant Mulholland of Flatonia contracted a severe pathogen resulting in the loss of his hands and feet. He is now on his way to recovery and learning how to use prostheses to help replace the lost parts. A family benefit raffle drawing will be held Saturday, Aug. 22 at the Flatonia American Legion Hall, 1226 US 90, at 4 p.m. Tickets are $20 and this raffle has over $9,000 cash value with over $3,400 of that in cash. The Hobo Band will play and a gourmet meal will be served from 12- 2 p.m. Dance with Fender Bender Band from 2-4 p.m. Raffle drawing and auction starts at 4 p.m.
LG TX Team Hunt August 22
LG TX Team Hunt is a team scavenger hunt in three locations in La Grange on Saturday, Aug. 22. You will begin at 11 a.m. at the M-K-T Rail Depot at 260 N. Washington St. You will be using the Goosechase App on your phone. Scan the QR Code that leads you directly to the Hunt. Once all questions are answered in the App for M-K-T Depot, leave the Depot and walk or drive to the Texas Heroes Museum on the other side of Courthouse Square at 171 S. Main St. Fill in answers for at the Heroes Museum, leave and drive to the Historic Faison House at 822 S. Jefferson St. Enter answers for Faison House. When finished, check in with the Hunt Monitor to hear the points leaderboard and your place in the chance to win $50 for most points, $30 for 2nd highest points, or $20 for 3rd points total. Ticket to play is only $15 per team.
Shoot With The Vets
The Columbus Chapter of the Vietnam Vets of America will be holding a Sporting Clay event in La Grange on Saturday, Aug. 22. Put together a team and come shoot. Women’s Bible Study for La Grange Area You are invited to join to study the books of Genesis and Joshua this year. Community Bible Study is multi-denominational with women who grow closer to one another as they grow closer to God. Join at First Presbyterian Church, 205 S. Franklin, in La Grange beginning Wednesday, Aug. 26 from 10:30 a.m. 12:15 p.m.
Vietnam Veterans Meeting
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
Fair Plant Exhibit
Bright blooms and lush greenery will be taking the stage at this year’s Fayette County Fair, Labor Day Weekend. The Flower and plant exhibit will bring a vibrant botanical air to the Creative Arts Building. All gardening enthusiasts and nature lovers are invited to enter their prize plant(s). The Fair theme is Celebrate America 250. Decorate your pots with red white and blue. The plants and the decorated pots will be judged. There are prizes for youth and adults divisions. Feed The Need
Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.
