Candidate Forum
Fayette County Republican Party (FCRP) will be hosting Republican candidate forums for all contested races for offices in Fayette County, as well as the State HD85 candidates. The fourth forum will be on Saturday, Feb. 12 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, 575 Country Club Dr. in La Grange. We will cover the State House District 85 race with candidates Artemio “Art” Hernandez, Stan Kitzman, Fred Roberts, and Phil Stephenson. BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club will hold a barbecue and the Episcopal Women will hold a bake sale Saturday, Feb. 12, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken will be $4 and a sausage link is $6. This event is drivethru only. This barbecue is for the benefit of St. Mark’s Auxiliary. The drive-thru will open at 10:30 a.m. with no pre-orders prior to 10:30. Please avoid congestion on Travis St. (Hwy. 71) by coming in off Colorado St.
Grand Opening
Fayette County Community Theatre will hold a grand opening event for the their new FCCT Box Office and Studio at 120 S. Washington St. in La Grange on Saturday, Feb. 12 from 3-7 p.m.
Feed The Need
Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.
Senior Citizen Gaming Party
Enjoy a fun day at the Round Top Family Library on Sunday, Feb. 13 from 2-4 p.m. Refreshments will be served and you may even win a prize. The Round Top Carmine 4-H Club is parterning with the library for a day of fun.
RT Historical Society Garage Sale
The Round Top Area Historical Society have their annual Garage Sale fundraiser, Saturday, Feb. 12 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 13 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Household goods, furniture, antiques, decorative items, glassware will be available at their campus behind the Round Top Post Office at 397 E. Sweetheart Classic Car Show
The City of Carmine will host the 8th annual Sweetheart Classic Car Show on Saturday, Feb. 12. The event opens at 8 a.m. and displays from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Chicken Fried Steak Drive-Thru
The Hostyn Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Queen of the Holy Rosary No. 2282 will hold a drive-thru fundraiser at the KC Hall in La Grange on Tuesday, Feb. 15 from 4 to 6 p.m. The meal will consist of chicken fried steak, buttered noodles, mixed vegetable blend, white gravy and a roll for $12 a plate. Farm Bureau Meeting
The Swiss Alp/Dubina/Ammannsville Farm Bureau will meet Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the SAFB Hall between La Grange and Schulenburg on US Hwy. 77. Social will begin at 6 p.m., with pot-luck dinner at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Mr. Drew Brossmann, County Commissioner Pct. 4. Members are asked to bring food-dish or dessert. Guests are welcome.
VFW Aux. No. 5254 Meeting
The VFW Auxiliary Post No. 5254 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 5 p.m. at the VFW Home in La Grange. Prospective members are welcome.
Vietnam Veterans Meeting
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
Fayette County Republican Women
The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 17 at La Grange City Hall, 155 E. Colorado in La Grange. Republican candidates in the three contested races in Fayette County have been invited to speak and take questions from the audience. County Commissioner Pct. 4 Candidates: Drew Brossmann, Stephen Matula. County Judge Candidates: Lori Berger, William Bernsen, Craig Moreau, Dan Mueller. Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 Candidates: Jamie Moreau, Brad Neville, and Victor Weishuhn. Parkinson’s Support Group Meeting
The Parkinson’s Support Group of Fayette and surrounding counties will hold their first meeting of the year on Feb. 17 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange. Patients who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, their caregivers, spouses, family members, and basically anyone who would like to learn more about this devastating illness are welcome to attend.
Sheriff’s Posse Meeting
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Posse will meet Thursday, Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. at the Fayette County Sheriff’s Posse arena located at 2141 Blankenburg Ln. off of FM 609.
Hearth & Home Quilt Show
The “Hearth & Home” quilt show will be held on Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Feb. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fireman’s Training Center in Brenham. The juried show features both contemporary and traditional quilts on display as well as quilts for sale, a boutique, and vendors. Admission is $7 per person and children under age 6 are free. Quilt Show at Winedale
Winedale’s upcoming quilt show, “Connecting Threads: New Acquisitions in the Winedale Quilt Collection,” will be open the weekends of Feb. 18-20 and Feb. 25-27. In this exhibition, five new acquisitions engage in conversation with previously acquired pieces from the Winedale Quilt Collection. Texas Women’s League Charity Gala
Tickets for Texas Women’s League March 5 Charity Gala are available on the website, www.texaswomensleague.org. The formal event includes the Newsboyz Band, an open bar, and dinner by Cody with Twenty Two North Holland. The gala program includes an exciting live auction with proceeds going to local Fayette County charitable organizations. Twenty-nine charities have applied for individual grants up to $5,000. FCCT Fundraiser

Fayette Water Supply Board Meeting
Fayette Water Supply Corporation will conduct a meeting of the board of directors on Monday, Feb.14 at 5:15 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Rd. in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.
Carmine Hall Fried Chicken Fundraiser
The Carmine Hall will hold a fried chicken fundraiser on Sunday, Feb. 20 from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and available at Carmine State Bank or any hall member.
Basic Iphone Class

Texas A&M Scholarship Applications
Seniors of Fayette County high schools (and past graduates of the county’s schools who are currently enrolled in a junior college or other institution of higher learning) who are planning to attend Texas A&M University are strongly encouraged to apply for the Fayette County Texas A&M Scholarship. Applications may be turned into your current or past high school counselor or principal or delivered to the Fayette County A&M Club, P.O. Box 1044 La Grange 78945. Applications must be received or postmarked no later than March 1.
Tannich-Brovec Family Reunion
The Tannich-Brovec family reunion will be held on Sunday, March 5, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall located off of FM 155 at 1020 N. Center St. in Weimar. Other family names include: Nohavitza, Ulbrich, Voitle, Sebesta, Mueck, Urban, Anhaiser, Sekerka, Fojtik, Holloway, Kunschick, Koch, Klimple, Perkins, Shimek, York, Socha, Kubesch, Petersen, etc. Bring a covered dish, meat, vegetable, salad and/or dessert and serving spoons.
