The Fayette Heritage Museum & Archives with Lafayette Lodge No. 34, A. F. & A. M, are sponsoring a program, “Fraternities and the Colorado County Feuds,” presented by Christian Moore at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22 in the Fayette Public Library meeting room, 855 S. Jefferson, La Grange. On July 7, 1890, Bob Stafford’s grand opera house in Columbus was set to host a ball celebrating the cornerstone ceremony for the new Colorado County Courthouse. Instead, the day ended with Stafford & his brother dead in the street. What happened next would plunge the community, and some of Texas’ most influential families, into turmoil for a generation.

There’s more Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.
