Feed The Need
Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.
Everyone is invited to the monthly Community Prayer Gathering, an area wide multichurch sponsored event, meeting the first Sunday of each month at Redimidos Por Cristo Church is located across the street from Tejas Healthcare at 131 S. College St. in La Grange beginning at 5 p.m. Please join us as we pray for our local community, our nation and our world.
Flag Disposal
The Texas Heroes Museum located at 171 S. Main in La Grange accepts old flags for proper disposal. The dropoff bin is inside the museum which is open 1-4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. If leaving flags outside the door when the museum is closed, please have them in a plastic bag or a box so that they are not laying on the ground.
There’s more As America celebrates its 250th birthday, the Fayette County Republican Women celebrate our 25th year as a federated club of the Texas Federation of Republican Women. Come help us celebrate at a special evening meeting on Wednesday, July 1, at Sealand Seafood & Steaks Restaurant, 2359 W. State Hwy. 71 in La Grange. The public is invited to attend. Check-in begins at 5:30 p.m. and meeting starts at 6 p.m. Meals are Dutch treat. Program speaker will be Austin Bay, author and syndicated columnist, radio commentator, retired reserve soldier, and a war game designer. Bay has been a guest analyst on Fox News, MSNBC, CNBC, CNN, C-SPAN, and ABC News Nightline. He retired at rank of Colonel (Armor) in the U.S. Army Reserve in 2003 and was awarded the Legion of Merit. Recalled to active duty in 2004, he served in Iraq and was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service. Bay served for four years as a consultant in wargaming at the Pentagon. He is a member of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas World Missions Committee and has worked with aid projects in Central America and sub-Saharan Africa. Second Chance Emporium Sales Store and donations dropoff area will be closed on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.
Independence Day Activities
Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill State Historic Sites will offer their program “Ich Bin Ein Amerikaner” on Friday, July 3 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Celebrate the holiday with festive crafts, historic games, and ice cream-making. Special 4th of July-themed tours will be offered Friday and Saturday at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
Holiday Garbage Schedule

St. John Picnic Guest Speaker
The guest speaker for the 10 a.m. flag program at the St. John Parish Picnic on July 4 will be Mr. Dennis Geesaman, former mayor and city councilman of Flatonia. After an Air Force career Dennis retired from Southwest Airlines as a pilot and is now in the Flatonia area. Mr. Geesaman is a candidate for the Texas House District 85 seat in the November 2026 election.
Vacation Bible School Schulenburg Vacation Bible School (VBS) at First Baptist Church of Schulenburg will be held Monday - Friday, July 6-10, from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. Bible stories, music, crafts, recreation, and snacks daily for kids who have finished Kindergarten through 5th grade.
