The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a barbecue on Saturday, July 12, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7. Drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of ARTS for Rural Texas.
Piano Recital
The St. James’ Steinway Concert Series continues with a concert by award-winning pianist Miles Gillette-Bockhorn, Sunday, July 13 at 3 p.m., followed by a Meet the Artist reception at St. James’ Episcopal Church across from H-E-B. There’s more The City of La Grange has designated Saturday, July 19, as Residential Bulk Curbside Pick-Up Day for hard to dispose of bulky items. Waste Management will pick up one free load of bulky items on this day. All items should be within three feet of the curb by Friday evening. Trucks will be starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday morning to pick up items for La Grange utility customers within the city limits.
BULK ITEMS INCLUDE: Stoves, refrigerators and air conditioners which have been tagged and certified as being “freon free” by a licensed technician, microwaves, water heaters, washing machines/dryers, barbecues, mattresses, chairs, recliners, couches and other furniture.
BULK ITEMS NOTACCEPTED: Tree limbs, tires, paint, chemicals, batteries, tile/toilets/bathtubs, mirrors/glass, cinder blocks/bricks/rocks, construction debris, televisions/ computer monitors, motor oil or used filters.
Only one set of mattresses per residence will be accepted. Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioning units must be tagged certifying that the refrigerant has been removed by a certified technician.
Celebrate Recovery at Bridge Church

Country Music Night
Lee County Senior Center will host local musicians Byron Wren and Bailey Wren Mathison on Monday, July 14 with music beginning at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. A free will donation will be collected and all proceeds will be given to the music talent. The center is located at 161 W. Austin Street in Giddings.
Reserved Football Tickets
La Grange ISD reserved football tickets will go on sale for current seat holders beginning July 14-24 from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday as the offices are closed on Fridays. at the LGISD Administration Office at 560 N. Monroe. Unsold reserved seats to the general public will go on sale Monday, Aug. 4.
VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary to Meet Fayette Memorial VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will meet on Tuesday, July 15 in the VFW Post Home at the La Grange Fairgrounds. The VFW Auxiliary meets at 5 p.m. and at 6 p.m. the Post and Auxiliary will enjoy a meal, after which the Post meets. Prospective members are invited to attend.

Central Texas Mobile food pantry will be at the Waldeck Lutheran church on Saturday, July 19 from 10-11 a.m. Drive through only. Volunteers are always welcome and appreciated.
Fayetteville Blood Drive
The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center will be conducting their semiannual blood drive on the Square in Fayetteville on Saturday, July 19 from 8 - 12:30 p.m. You can reserve a time to donate by going to their website, giveblood.org and click on Donate and put the Fayetteville zip code 78940 and select a time for this drive. Drop ins are also welcome. Blood, the Gift of Life is always needed. Each donation helps up to 3 patients. This drive is sponsored by the Fayetteville/Ellinger Knights of Columbus but everyone is welcome.
Farm Bureau Annual Dinner
The La Grange Farm Bureau is having their annual dinner and meeting on Tuesday, July 22 at the Fayette County Fairground EH Kitchen. Social begins at 6 p.m. Meal to begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Fayette County Farm Bureau office until July 16.
Proper Flag Disposal Drop Off Locations The Texas Heroes Museum located at 171 S. Main in La Grange accepts old flags for proper disposal. The drop-off bin is inside the museum which is open 1-4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. If leaving flags outside the door when the museum is closed, please have them in a plastic bag or a box so that they are not laying on the ground.
