Senior Game Day
The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host game day on Thursday, June 11 from 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. Game Day will be held the second and fourth Thursday of each month. For more information, contact Liz Tannler at (281) 543-1976.
Plant Society
Join the Live Oak Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas, comprised of Fayette, Lavaca, and Colorado Counties at their next field trip meeting on Saturday, June 13, at 9 a.m. to Monument Hill and Kreische Brewery on the Bluff, and enjoy a presentation with nature walk on the benefits of native plants in our area and on our homesteads.
BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a BBQ and the Episcopal Women a bake sale Saturday, June 13, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m, or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This BBQ is for the benefit of Habitat for Humanity.
American Legion Post & Auxiliary
The American Legion Post No. 102 and theAmerican Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, June 10 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. The Post agenda includes Installation of the newly elected Officers. The Auxiliary agenda includes the presentations of local Scholarships, and also the Installation of the newly elected Officers for the 2026-2027 term. Members are encouraged to attend to show their support for both organizations. Potential new members are always welcome. A light meal will be served, with the regular business meetings to follow.
LiveSmart Expo at NewLife
A free LiveSmart Expo will be held on Saturday, June 13, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at New Life Methodist Church, 1215 N. Von Minden, La Grange, with co-sponsors Fayette Memorial Funeral Home and Friends ‘N Fellowship. Explore a wide variety of local vendor booths packed with information on wellness and smarter daily living for the whole family. The diverse lineup includes square dance information, pet adoptions, health checks, fitness, archery, healthy eating, financial planning, proactive life skills, and much more. Fayette Community Theatre Auditions
Fayette County Community Theatre (FCCT) will host open auditions for Edith Stein by Arthur Giron on Saturday, June 13 from 3-5 p.m. and Sunday, June 14 from 1-3 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville. The play is a haunting and passionate drama about the Jewish intellectual Edith Stein who converted to Roman Catholicism, joined a Carmelite nunnery and was martyred at Auschwitz. Kolache Festival
The Czech Kolache Festival will be held Saturday, June 13 in East Benard at Riverside Hall beginning at 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. The Kolache Eating Contest starts at 2 p.m. Festival admission is $10 and children under 12 are free. Crafts and goods of all kinds will be available. A plate lunch of sausage, barbecue chicken, sauerkraut and other trimmings will be available. Florida Cemetery Association
The Florida Chapel Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting on Sunday, June 14, at 2 p.m. at the Muesse Chapel. Meeting is open to the public. Election of officers will be held. The Ellinger Hermann Sons meeting will be on Monday, June 15 at 6 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.
VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary to Meet OnTuesday, June 16, Fayette Memorial VFW Post No. 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will meet in the VFW Post Home at the La Grange Fairgrounds; and potential members are invited to attend. The Auxiliary meets at 5 p.m. The Post and Auxiliary will meet at 6 p.m. for a meal, after which the Post will meet.
Book Group at St. Paul Lutheran
The Tuesday Book Group of St. Paul Lutheran Church, corner of S. Unity in the Community
A Juneteenth gospel concert featuring Debra Steward will be at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl in La Grange, on June 19 at 6 p.m. Talent includes Mr. Leo Vaughan, New Soul Invaders, and Soul Invaders and special friends. A free will donation is appreciated. This concert is sponsored by H-E-B and Second Chance Emporium.
Vietnam Veterans Meeting
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
