Legion, Auxiliary

The American Legion Post and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 9 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange.The Auxiliary agenda includes the Installation of Officers for the 20252026 term. Members are encouraged to attend to show their support for both service organizations. New members are always welcome. A light meal will be served, with the regular business meetings to follow.

Democratic Party

Join the Fayette County Democratic Party for the next quarterly meeting on Thursday, July 10 at 6 p.m. via zoom. Contact fayettetxdemocrats@ gmail.com for details.

St. James BBQ

The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a barbecue on Saturday, July 12, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7. Drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of ARTS for Rural Texas.

There’s more La Grange ISD reserved football tickets will go on sale for current seat holders beginning July 14-24 from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the LGISD Administration Office at 560 N. Monroe. The offices are closed on Fridays. Unsold reserved seats to the general public will go on sale Monday, Aug. 4.

Country Music Night

Lee County Senior Center will host local musicians Byron Wren and Bailey Wren Mathison on Monday, July 14 with music beginning at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. A free will donation will be collected and all proceeds will be given to the music talent. The center is located at 161 W. Austin Street in Giddings.

Bingo in Carmine

Bingo at Carmine Hall will be held on Friday, July 18. Doors open at 4 p.m. Games start at 6 p.m. Food and drinks will be available.

The Great CASA Casino

Get ready to step back in time for an unforgettable night of glitz, glamour, and gaming at The Great CASA Casino, the annual Casino Night fundraiser with a roaring twist on Saturday, July 19 from 5:30-10:30 p.m. at the Smithville Recreation Center. This year’s theme channels the opulence and energy of The Great Gatsby and the roaring twenties. Join us for an evening full of fun with the wild-card game, bingo, auction prizes, complimentary wine and beer, and a grand dinner and dessert buffet all in support of CASA of Bastrop, Fayette & Lee Counties and The Smithville Chamber of Commerce. Tickets are $85/ person, or save when you buy two for $150. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door for $65/person starting after 7 p.m., but will not include the dinner. A limited number of tables with eight seats are available as well for $600. Cash or check can also be brought to the Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce or CASA of Bastrop, Fayette & Lee Counties offices for tickets to The Great CASA Casino or visit casabfl.org.
