LHS 1957 Reunion
The 1957 Class of La Grange High School will hold their 69th year class reunion on Saturday, May 16 at 1 p.m. at Sealand Restaurant in La Grange.
Cemetery Meeting
The Old High Hill Cemetery Association, Inc. annual business meeting will be held on Sunday, May 17 at St. Paul’s Hall, 712 Summit St. in Schulenburg, at 2:30 p.m. All members, family, and descendants of those buried in the cemetery are encouraged to attend and participate in the meeting.
Bingo in Ledbetter
Bingo for Seniors (60 and older plus guests) will be held at the Ledbetter Community Center on Sunday, May 17 from 2 - 4 p.m. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. $5 card covers all games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips, snacks and drinks will be available for a freewill donation.
Turtle Wing Art Exhibit
The Turtle Wing Foundation invites the community to celebrate a special milestone at the “Jack’s Art Gallery” Exhibition Opening on May 16 at 10 a.m. This event honors both Jack’s birthday and the Foundation’s 15 years of impact supporting individuals with learning challenges. Guests are encouraged to come and go as they explore a self-guided tour showcasing meaningful milestones, stories, and artwork that reflect the heart of Turtle Wing Foundation’s mission. The exhibit offers a unique and personal look at the lives touched over the past 15 years and the continued efforts to promote inclusion and acceptance in rural communities. Four Under-told Stories in Texas History
Mike Vance, author, historian and standup comedian, will talk at the Fayetteville Community Center on Sunday, May 17. He will discuss four events in Texas history: the surprising origin of Texas Chili, a man who became Public Enemy #1 after parting ways with the Clyde Barrow Gang, artifacts of the Texas Revolution, and a South Texas pre-civil war story. This is the fourth speaker in the Fayetteville Community Center Speaker Series and is guaranteed to entertain you. Mike will have his books for sale after the talk Sunday, May 17 beginning at 3 p.m. at the Fayetteville Community Center, 107 West Fayette Street. No charge, all are welcome. Beverages will be served.
Fayette Water Supply Meeting
Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting a monthly meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday, May 18 at 4:30 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Road in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.
VFW Post 5254 And Auxiliary To Meet
On Tuesday, May 19, Fayette Memorial VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will meet in the VFW Post Home at the La Grange Fairgrounds; and potential members are invited to attend. The Auxiliary meets at 5 p.m. The Post and Auxiliary will meet together at 6 p.m. and commemorate Loyalty Day and Memorial Day, and then enjoy a meal, after which the Post will meet. Both the Post and Auxiliary will hold Installation of Officers.
Separation of Church and State
The Fayette County Republican Women will host Pastor Ketrich Steger on Wednesday, May 20 at Frisch Auf! Country Club in La Grange. The meeting will be from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and is free to all. Lunch is available for $20. Pastor Steger will discuss challenges he has encountered in the Separation of Church and State. Paster Steger is a certified Senior Chaplain and has been involved in ministry for over 30 years both locally and abroad. Currently, he serves as the Executive Director and campus pastor for a ministry that serves single moms and their children. He also serves as the chaplain for the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Bastrop Police Department. RSVP to fcrwtx.org. All are welcome.
Tales of Tails Reading Club
The Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter (GJAS) is excited to announce the launch of its new “Tales for Tails Reading Club,” a kid-friendly program designed to help children build reading confidence while providing comfort and socialization to shelter dogs, puppies, cats and kittens. Children participating in the program will read stories to shelter animals, helping the pets feel calmer and more comfortable around people, which can improve their chances of adoption. Families interested in learning more are invited to attend an informational meeting on Saturday, May 30 at 10 a.m. at 255 Svoboda Lane, La Grange. VVA Chapter 870 Meeting
The May meeting will be at the Moravia Store beginning at 5:30 p.m. to celebrate our 25th Chapter Anniversary. Activities during daytime gives an opportunity for all members to attend. Refreshments and hamburgers will be served. This is a one time change of location.
