Mary Martha Guild
The Mt. Calvary Mary Martha Guild will host its annual Mother’s Day Bake Sale in front of National Bank and Trust on the courthouse square on Friday, May 8 beginning at 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. or until sold out. Baked goods available will include cakes, pies, brownies, cookies, cupcakes, and other home baked items. Free will donations. Funds raised will be used by the Guild to support various local outreach projects. Be sure to come early and surprise mom with a treat.
Hot Dogs/Bake Sale

BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a BBQ and the Episcopal Women a bake sale Saturday, May 9, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken $6 and sausage link $7 drive through only. This BBQ is for the benefit of the Texas Heroes Museum.
Hermann Sons Life Plum Meeting
Hermann Sons Life Plum will hold their meeting Monday, May 11 at 5 p.m. at Prairie Valley Schoolhouse, 2510 Williams Rd.,West Point. A meal and dessert will be provided.
Country Music Night
Byron Wren and Bailey Wren Mathison will be performing at the Lee County Senior Center, located at 161 W. Austin St. in Giddings, on Monday, May 11. Music starts at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Plenty of parking in the back parking lot. Afree will donation will be collected and proceeds given to the music talent. Everyone is welcome.

CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 of La Grange and Plum will be meeting on Monday, May 11 at Sealand Restaurant in La Grange at 6:30 p.m. for a makeup business meeting. All members are invited to attend.
Winedale Zoom Talk
On Tuesday, May 12 at noon, Dr. Kenneth Hafertepe will discuss how the preservation of historic sites such as Independence Hall, Mount Vernon, and the homes of Paul Revere and Betsy Ross helped shape early efforts in historic preservation, and how this legacy continues today through the ongoing work at Winedale. American Legion Post, Auxiliary No. 102 The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 13 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. The Post agenda includes holding elections for Officers for the Post. The Auxiliary agenda includes the presentation of local Scholarships and election of Officers for the 2026-2027 term. Members are encouraged to attend to show their support for both organizations. Potential new members are always welcome. A light meal will be served, with the regular business meetings to follow.
La Grange Senior Citizen Game Day The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host game day on Thursday, May 14 from 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. Fayetteville/Ellinger KC Shrimp Boil The Fayetteville/Ellinger Knights of Columbus Council No. 3168 are holding their 26th Annual Shrimp Boil on Friday, May 15 under the pavilion at St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 E. Bell St. in Fayetteville. Happy Hour runs from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Food will be served at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy shrimp and all the fixin’s provided by Cajun Country Cookers, ice cold beer, live music featuring the Airplane Band, a card gun raffle and a silent auction. Old High Hill Cemetery Meeting
The Old High Hill Cemetery Association, Inc. annual business meeting will be held on Sunday, May 17 at St. Paul’s Hall, 712 Summit St. in Schulenburg, at 2:30 p.m. All members, family, and descendants of those buried in the cemetery are encouraged to attend and participate in the meeting.
Mt. Calvary Church Picnic
Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and Preschool’s 31st annual church picnic will be held on Sunday, May 17 at the La Grange Knights of Columbus Hall at 190 S. Brown St., La Grange. Pastor Jason Kaspar will be leading worship service at 9 a.m. (casual dress okay). Barbecue beef brisket and sausage meal with all the trimmings will be served from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. All plates are $20 dine in or drive thru. There will be children’s activities, a silent auction, a live auction beginning at 12:30 p.m. and live music provided by Rabb’s Creek Band. Separation of Church and State The Fayette County Republican Women will host Pastor Ketrich Steger on Wednesday, May 20 at Frisch Auf! Country Club in La Grange. The meeting will be from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and is free to all. Lunch is available for $20. Pastor Steger will discuss challenges he has encountered in the Separation of Church and State. Pastor Steger is a certified Senior Chaplain and has been involved in ministry for over 30 years both locally and abroad. Currently, he serves as the Executive Director and campus pastor for a ministry that serves single moms and their children. Historic Photographs Open House
The Round Top Area Historical Society (RTAHS) will host a public open house and reception at its Jaehne Pavilion for an exhibit of historic photographs on Sunday, May 24 between 2-5 p.m. The exhibit will feature representative works from three early area photographers, namely Gustav Froelich, Friederike Recknagel and Robert Fulton Adams. The RTAHS campus is located immediately behind the U.S. Post Office at 397 E. Mill Street in Round Top.

Grief Group Being Offered
Hospice Brazos Valley is offering a new grief group for anyone who is grieving. This can be for any human grief, i.e. parent, grandparent, sibling, best friend, and the ones that HBV already offers, spouse, child. This support group will meet on the third Wednesday of each month at 10:30 a.m. - 12 noon at the Hospice Brazos Valley office, 1048 N. Jefferson, La Grange.
