The La Grange High School class of 1956 is celebrating its 70 year reunion from 11a.m. -1 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, at Sealand, 2359 W. State Hwy. 71 in La Grange. For more information, call (979) 968-5226.
Waldeck Cemetery
The Decoration and Memorial Service for the Waldeck Cemetery will be held on Sunday, April 26 at the Waldeck Cemetery beginning at 2 p.m. A business meeting with election of new board members will follow the service, and light refreshments will be served.
PTO Fundraiser
The La Grange High School PTO Powder Puff fundraiser will take place on Sunday, April 26 beginning at 4 p.m. at Leopard Stadium. Gates open at 3 p.m. $5 entry fee. Come out and support the Class of ‘26, ‘27, ‘28 and ‘29 girls play flag football.
CDA Meeting
CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 of La Grange and Plum will be meeting on Monday, April 27 in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Center in La Grange at 6:30 p.m. Members are encouraged to attend, and new members are always welcome.
Anniversary Celebration
Bethlehem AME Church in Cozy Corner will celebrate its 152nd anniversary with a praise and worship service on Saturday, April 25, at 1 p.m. Everyone is invited, especially those with loved ones buried in the cemetery. There will be a fellowship meal after the service.
RT Church Honors Texas Music Icon
The fourth Annual Willie Nelson Tribute Mass, hosted by Saint Cecilia’s Round Top, will be Sunday, April 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the historic Round Top Dance Hall (550 N. Washington). This special service celebrates Willie’s birthday in April. The Mass is titled “The Wisdom of Willie: Live Every Day” and features an extraordinary group of musicians including Sara Hickman, Crispin Schroeder, Ben Jones, Joey McGee, Stephen Mansolo, Anna La Mare, Bobby McDonald, Rob Kazenel, Ella Broussard (the 16 year old fiddle phenom from Round Top) and the award winning steel player Flavio Pasquetto from Rome, Italy (recently inducted into the Western Swing Hall of Fame). The service includes all songs either written or recorded by Willie Nelson. Author and Priest, Father Bill Miller, will present an inspiring message derived from the spiritual wisdom of Willie. Sealy Lions Dance
The Lions Sealy Dance will be held on Saturday, May 2, at the Sealy American Legion Hall located at 1630 Meyer St., Sealy. The band, Blue Denim will be providing live music from 7:30-10:30 p.m. The public is always welcome.
Fayette County Beekeepers Meeting
The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will hold its next meeting on Saturday, May 2 at the Fayette County Agriculture Building, 255 Svoboda Ln. in La Grange The evening begins with Beekeeping 101 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. a session ideal for beginners or anyone interested in getting started with honey bees. At 5:30 p.m. members and guests will enjoy a potluck dinner. Bring a favorite entrée, side, or dessert to share. Following dinner, the club will conduct its regular business meeting and then welcome this month’s guest speaker, Keegan Nichols, a Ph.D. student in the Department of Entomology at Texas A&M University. His research focuses on pollinator biology and honey bee management. Keegan will share insights into honey bee health and the important role pollinators play in our environment. Annual membership is $25 per individual or family, and guests are always welcome. FaycoBeeks meet on the first Saturday of each month (except July). Barbecue and Auction Fundraiser The 35th annual Industry Brethren Church BBQ and Auction Fundraiser will be held Sunday, May 3 at the Industry Fireman’s Hall. A BBQ beef and sausage meal with sides will be served from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Meal tickets are $15. Live auction starts at noon. Enjoy live music by Jerry Kramer from 11 a.m.- 12 p.m. Raffle tickets may be purchased from any church member or at the fundraiser. Silent auction ends at 12:30 p.m.
Poetry Group Meeting
Are you a person who loves poetry or wants to know more about it? Did you know approximately one-third of Scripture is poetry? If you are interested in learning more about the spirituality of poetry or would like to spend time exploring poems and seeing what they have to teach us today, plan on attending the spirituality of poetry group on Sunday, May 3 at 5 p.m. The group will meet at La Grange Church of Christ. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Bring a poem if you have one you would like to share. It will be a wonderful time of discussion and fellowship.
