Dubina Feast

Join the Fayette Public Library for Adult Technology Training in La Grange on Saturday, July 5, from 10 a.m. noon. All computer questions are welcome. No one is born knowing this stuff. Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church in Dubina will celebrate its 169th church Feast on Sunday, July 6 with a Polka Mass at 9 a.m. A “Dubinastyle” fried chicken and sausage dinner with all the trimmings for $15. Serving begins at 11 a.m. Adult take home plates through express to-go line. Enjoy entertainment and amusements all day. Country auction begins at 1:30 p.m., bingo from 2-6 p.m., and antique and classic cars will be on site. Hamburgers will be served in the evening. Music by Mark Halata & Texavia and the Lost Cause Band from noon to 7 p.m. Everyone is invited.

Family Reunion

The annual Mica-Mares family reunion will be held on Sunday, Aug. 3 at the Flatonia Civic Center from 10:30 a.m. 3 p.m. Bring a covered dish to share for the meal and donate an item for our silent auction.

There’s more The Sealy Lions Dance Club is having a dance on Saturday, July 5, at the Sealy American Legion Hall located at 1630 Meyer St. in Sealy. The band, Blue Denim, will be providing live music from 7:30-11 p.m. The public is always welcome.

Prayer For America Patriotic Concert

Saint Cecilia’s Round Top, a creative faith community, will host its first-ever “Prayer for America” patriotic concert and worship celebration on Sunday, July 6 at The Compound (Peck Barn), 2550 SH 237, Round Top. All are invited for a Patriotic Concert at 10:15 a.m. and a Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. A group of All-Star musicians will participate including Crispin Schroeder, David Pulkingham, Joey McGee, Ellen Melissa Story, Ashley Monical, Stephen Mansolo, Bobby McDonald, and Rob Kazenel. The concert and service will feature songs by: Joni Mitchell, John Denver, Dr. John, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Woody Guthrie, Ray Charles, Faith Hill, Marvin Gaye and John Mellencamp. Patriotic Service July 6

First Presbyterian Church of La Grange located at 205 S. Franklin St. invites you to join them for a special patriotic service this Sunday, July 6. Miles Gillette will be playing special music as well as service music. Miles is a second year master’s student at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University where he works as a teaching assistant and pianist for the Shepherd School of Music Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra. This is a great opportunity to meet new minister, Rev. Gordon Butler, for his first official service as minister. Service starts at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday morning.

Vacation Bible School in Schulenburg Vacation Bible School (VBS) at First Baptist Church of Schulenburg will be held Monday through Friday, July 7-11, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Bible stories, music, crafts, recreation, and snacks daily for kids who have finished Kindergarten through finishing 5th grade. American Legion, Auxiliary No. 102 The American Legion Post and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 9 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. The Auxiliary agenda includes the Installation of Officers for the 2025-2026 term. Members are encouraged to attend to show their support for both service organizations. New members are always welcome. A light meal will be served, with the regular business meetings to follow.

Kappler, Groeschel, Berger, Wukasch All relatives and descendants of Andreas Kappler, Agnes Groeschel Kappler, John Ernst Berger, and Anna Wukasch Berger are invited to attend a family reunion at the Holy Cross Church Hall on Saturday, July 12 beginning at 10 a.m. A meal will be served at 12:30 p.m. Please bring enough food for your family. Paper goods, tea, and coffee will be provided by the reunion. Bring your own soft drinks and beer. Donation for beer provided will be taken. There is a playground for the children.
