Railroad Crossing to Be Repaired

Union Pacific Railroad plans to repair the railroad crossing on US 77 in La Grange next month.

Large potholes next to the tracks make for quite a bumpy ride when vehicles cross the railroad.

Robynn Tysver of Union Pacific (UP) told the Record last week that the railroad company plans to rebuild the crossing in March.

“This rebuild will include new asphalt, new ties and new rail,” Tysver said. “We do not have a definitive date on when the work will take place, but the current estimate is sometime in late March.”

The work will require the road to be closed for a day, Tysver said. She said UP will give advance notice via traffic control/detour signs.

“We hope to do the work as safely and as quickly as possible with minimal impact to the public,” Tysver said.

La Grange has several other problematic railroad crossing, but no official word yet on when those will be repaired.
