Quick Action Halts House Fire
Some quick thinking by local folks stopped a house fire from getting a whole lot worse last Friday evening, June 20.
Pastor Will Martin of Muldoon Baptist Church and his wife Kendra were driving by the boat ramp at the Colorado River in La Grange when they noticed a fire burning on the porch of a house. They called 911. No one was home.
“We banged on windows but it looked to be empty,” Martin said.
La Grange Police Officer Noah Geer was nearby and responded almost immediately.
Martin and Geer found a water hose and were able to put out the flames by the time the fire department arrived.
It was unclear how the fire started. The porch suffered some damage, but the main part of the house dodged serious harm.
