Progressive Health to Close Deal on Hospital August 24

The former St. Mark’s Medical Center could reopen as a hospital as soon as the first quarter of next year, according to Fayette County EMS Director Josh Vandever.

Vandever announced the news at the La Grange Rotary Club meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 6. Vandever said he and County Judge Dan Mueller have been in close communication with Mississippi-based Progressive Health Group and their CEO Quentin Whitwell. He said Whitwell recently informed the County that Progressive intends to purchase the hospital property with a scheduled closing date of Aug. 24.

“They are already putting things in place to rehabilitate the building into a state in which they can get it reopened,” Vandever said.

Vandever said he did not know all the details, such as what range of services the hospital would offer. This is a developing story. Look for more in an upcoming issue of the Record.
