Power Outage So Bad, Kids Got to Leave School

The Flatonia area suffered a widespread power outage last Wednesday, Dec. 4.

The City said the outage was caused by a failure of equipment owned by the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA), the City’s wholesale power provider.

The outage also affected Fayette Electric Cooperative customers in the Flatonia, Muldoon and Komensky areas.

Flatonia ISD allowed students to leave school early since the campus was without electricity.

Power for most customers was back up and running by around 12:30 p.m. that day. Crews had to cut power to some City of Flatonia customers in the area of Old Hallettsville Rd. to East 3rd St. Wednesday afternoon to complete the repairs.
