Porch, Railings Return In Ode to Fayetteville Building’s History
In 1905 an event was held on the Fayetteville Square and was photographed by men standing on the viewing porch at the Buck Horn Saloon (seen on the left in this historic photo). The saloon had a dance hall on the second floor and patrons could come out into the evening air on that porch. Later the building became known as the E.J. Knesek Building and the porch was replaced by a tin roof. Today the porch has returned on the rebuilt E.J. Knesek Building, and workers can be seen installing the outdoor feature’s sturdy railing (on the right). The public will be invited to visit the building, now known as the Fayetteville Community Center, at an open house coming on Sunday, September 21st.
