Phones Stolen from La Grange Store Found After Traffic Stop in Flatonia
Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Tuesday around noon, the Sheriff’s Office Dispatchers received a 911 call from the T-Mobile store near Walmart in La Grange in reference to an individual that entered the store grabbed two cell phones and ran out.
A description was given of a male and female that left in a black Nissan Maxima passenger car unknown direction. La-Grange Police Department was notified and responded along with several Fayette County Deputies checking adjacent roadways.
La Grange P.D. Office Mitchell Maxwell arrived at the T-Mobile store and obtained more information. Deputy Joe Gonzales was traveling on FM 609 and located a vehicle matching the description southbound on 609 near Ehler-Grasshoff Rd. Deputy Gonzales caught up with the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in Flatonia near Amigo’s.
The occupants matched the description given by La Grange P.D. Officer Maxwell. Both subjects were detained and phones recovered in the vehicle. Assisting at the traffic stop was Deputy Herman Olvera, Flatonia Police Chief Lee Dick, and Drug Interdiction Investigator David Smith.
Both subjects were transported to the La Grange Police Department by deputies where charges were being filed. Charged with theft of property with two previous convictions was 24 yr. old Devon Randall Mitchell of Houston, who also had an active parole violation warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
