Over 250 Enjoy a “First Look” at the New Fayetteville Community Center

A large crown gathered to watch Mayor Mike Stroup cut the Ceremonial Ribbon opening Phase I of the Fayetteville Community Center & Performance Theater.

Executive Director Dr. Crystal Gully explaining the plans for Phase II, a 150-seat Theater to be built attached to the Community Center.

Jerry and Shirely Chovanec, former owners of Jerry’ General Store, were welcomed to the Community Center by Board member Joan Herring.

Visitors were treated to the bright interiors featuring the reused floors and columns below the pressed tin ceilings.

Executive Director Dr. Crystal Gully welcomed the crowd and led the afternoon’s activities. Mayor Mike Stroup cut the ceremonial ribbon and then was presented a key to the Community Center by Board President Jerry Herring.

The Fayetteville Community Center & Performance Theater project opened Phase I to the public on Sunday, Sept. 21. Over 250 guests streamed through the rebuilt E.J. Knesek Building to see the old space brought back to life.
