    One Injured As Fire Breaks Out At Oil Well Site

An oil well tank caught fire on Zapalac Rd. near Ellinger Friday afternoon, July 5.

Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department got the call around 2 p.m Friday They called La Grange Volunteer Fire Department for assistance. Fayette County EMS and Fayette County Sheriff’s Office also responded. The plume of black smoke could be seen from La Grange.

A workover rig was at the well site when the fire started inside a crude oil tank. One oilfield worker suffered burns, but he was in stable condition, according to Fayette County EMS.

Firefighters allowed most of the crude oil to burn before using foam to extinguish the remnants.
