Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Sunday morning around 7:29 a.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call advising of a fire at an oil tank storage facility on Vyvjala Lane off State Hwy. 95.

The Flatonia Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene along with Flatonia Police Department Officers Trey Tunis, Taylor Amos, and Sheriff’s Deputy Herman Olvera. Upon arrival it was reported an oil well storage tank was fully engulfed with fire. Assistance was requested from the Schulenburg and Muldoon Fire Departments who also responded to the scene. The fire was contained and extinguished. The fire is believed to have been caused by a bad gasket on some heating equipment. There were no reported injuries.
