NVCC to Hear From Emergency Management

As NVCC looks forward, members are looking ahead to listening and learning what is going on in Fayette County. Craig Moreau, Fayette County Chief of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, will visit on Monday, April 25. He will fill members in on everything COVID and the latest news of boosters for elders. Memebers really want the news in a manner they can understand to make the best decision for themselves. NVCC has invited Craig to come in and join members for a lasagna lunch and inform them of the latest news.

NVCC is in need of volunteers at the Senior Center and we would love to have you come in and work with them. If you are good at event planning, at volunteer management, or can help out with our day-to-day operations, give the center a call at (979) 743-3227. At the Center, all volunteer hours are logged and reported monthly. Your volunteer time is documented and letters of reference can be produced for you if you need this for college or work. Community service is usually a requirement on applications, and NVCC can help you with this by finding hours that are compatible with your schedule.

NVCC members are looking forward to visiting Whistling Duck Winery in Weimar on May 12 for an educational experience and a light lunch, with an option of a wine tasting. The cost of lunch and a flight of wine is $30 for each member, and the center is providing transportation by Schuber for 14 members. A sign-up sheet will be available next week. Members are urged to sign up if you are interested.

NVCC invites you to come on by and see what’s going on at the Senior Center in town. Bring a friend with you, plan to eat lunch, and see who else you may know at the center as members socialize and have fun together.
