Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of Nov.

Sgt. Angela Lala investigated a case in which a sex offender failed to register within seven days as required by law. The case has been handed over to the County Attorney’s Office for charges as well as adult probation.

Investigator Marc Bennett is currently investigating numerous cases of sexual assaults, some of which are against children. The cases remain under investigation and charges are pending.

Deputy Herman Olvera took a report of vandalism which occurred at the Flatonia Golf Course. The case remains under investigation at this time. Olvera responded to a domestic disturbance in the Praha area. One subject was arrested on a felony warrant out of Guadalupe County for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. A report was taken in regards to the disturbance and the case will be presented to the Fayette County Attorney’s Office resulting in possible additional charges.

Deputy Chris Stansberry assisted with a vehicle pursuit which was initiated by a Texas DPS Trooper. The subject was arrested after a lengthy pursuit. Stansberry took a report of criminal mischief which occurred in the Muldoon area. The case remains under investigation at this time.

Deputy Duane Meagher took multiple reports of scams. Individuals were posing as local law enforcement officers demanding payments for warrants and missed court appearances. Meagher also responded to a report of a nude male in a creek who was visible from the roadway. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Deputy Jason Fowler responded sponded to a utility pole that was engulfed in flames in the Waldeck area. Round Top Carmine Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire. The utility company was notified. Fowler also responded to a disturbance in the Rutersville area. It was determined no physical contact occurred and the disturbance was a result of a son not taking his medication. The father agreed to take the son to the doctor in the morning to get him assistance.

Deputy Jared Michalec responded to a residence in Winchester in reference to an accidental shooting. A subject was shooting a metal target when a bullet ricocheted off the target striking him in the chest. The subject was transported to a hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. Michalec also arrested a female subject on a warrant out of Fayette County for burglary.

Deputy Jose Mosqueda took a report of a structure fire which occurred in Round Top. After further investigation, it was determined the fire was caused accidentally.

Deputy Mark Pritchard responded to a disturbance which occurred in the La Grange area. One subject was arrested on a family violence assault charge.

Deputy Ty Roggenkamp responded to a domestic disturbance which occurred in the Flatonia area. After further investigation, one subject was arrested for assault impeding breath family/household.
