New Teacher Feature: Bonnie Seydler
Bonnie Seydler is going to be a new third grade English/ Reading and Social Studies at Schulenburg Elementary School.
Bonnie’s history with Schulenburg ISD does not begin with her teaching career there.
Bonnie’s father is the late David Husmann, the winningest football coach in Schulenburg history, winning state titles in 1991 and 1992. After his passing in 2020, the school voted to name the stadium after him.
“Our family was extremely honored. When I went in for an interview at SES, Angie Westerfiled, the principal at SES, knew I hadn’t taught for a while but had so much faith in me. That meant so much to me,” she said. “When I got the keys to my room my husband made the comment that I had the best view. I looked out to see what he meant. I could see my dad’s scoreboard with the letterhead ‘David Husmann Memorial Stadium, Home of the Shorthorns’ perfectly clear. It’s like I had a God-wink, and dad had blessed my decision to teach at SES.”
Bonnie attended Texas A&M University, and graduated in 2009 with a bachelors in Interdisciplinary studies with a certification in early childhood through fourth grade.
“I truly believe being a mama and a teacher are the hardest jobs on Earth. I’m so excited to make a difference in the lives of these kids I will teach this year and years to come,” she said.
