New Stop Sign to be Installed in Carmine

Travelers be advised that the local Texas Dept of Transportation will be making a change to the signage at the intersection of SH 237 and SP 458 in Carmine to enhance the safety of this intersection. Northbound traffic on SH 237 turning left onto Spur 458 headed towards Carmine will now encounter a new Stop sign. In addition, a stop bar will be painted on the pavement to enhance the stop condition. The current Yield sign will be permanently removed and replaced with a Stop condition.

The sign change is planned for Tuesday, Feb. 22, depending on weather conditions. To make drivers aware of the new Stop Sign, TxDOT plans to use a changeable message sign to alert drivers of the upcoming change.

Important Things to Remember:

• Always come to a complete stop at the stop line. Rolling Stops are not acceptable.

• Make sure there is no oncoming traffic from your left or right side before entering the intersection and then proceed with caution.

• Avoid Distracted Driving so that you can give your full attention to driving and to the road.
