New Czech Center Church Groundbreaking Ceremony This Weekend
The Texas Czech Heritage & Cultural Center announces the ground breaking at the site of the new Brethren Church construction in the TCHCC Czech Village to occur this Saturday, October 19. The ground breaking program will begin at about 11 a.m., or directly following the Opening Ceremonies of the Heritage Festival & Muziky which will be at 10:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend and stay for the festivities throughout the day.
The Unity of the Brethren was first organized in Bohemia in 1457 by the followers of Jan Hus. The structure will be a typical Texas Brethren Church design and will honor four of the early Brethren pastors, Rev. Joseph Barton, Rev. Henry E. Beseda, Sr., Rev. Joseph Hegar, and Rev. Frank H. Horak. All descendants of the late pastors are encouraged to attend the ground breaking.
Drawings can be viewed on the website at www.czechtexas. org. Contributions to the building fund are still accepted for completion of the project. TCHCC is a 501(c)3 charitable organization and all contributions are tax deductible and payable to TCHCC.
