New City Manager Says Pump the Brakes on Weimar-as-the-New-Hollywood Rumors
Regarding the Texas Film Corridor Project (which would bring a sprawling film production campus to the Weimar area): The recent articles you may have read in the local newspapers and seen on FaceBook are entirely fictious. There are not any signed contracts between the City of Weimar and the Texas Film Corridor project. The City of Weimar has not made any offers to the developer. The developer will need to provide the required infrastructure for the site and development. There are no signed contracts, and the location is still undetermined at this point in time. No new developments have been discussed since the last meeting before or since the previous mayor resigned in July 2025. My last conversation with Robert (developer) was that the corridor private funding and signing of land contracts with property owners is still 6 to 8 weeks out. All agreements between the City of Weimar and any property owner (Film Corridor or other) that involved: a) annexation, b) provision of any City utilities outside the City limits, c) City subsidies, abatements or tax incentives, d) re-zoning, or e) use of City funds or crews to develop private property would all have to be discussed in public during a duly noticed Council meeting and would require Council approval.
Citizens of Weimar, please understand that the Mayor and City Council, Economic Development Corporation, Planning Commission are all looking out for the best interest of the City of Weimar and its citizens. There are zoning regulations in place for regulating and conformance for all types of developments. We have your back. Please call city hall with any questions. It’s hard for us to be transparent about something that’s not really happening.
