Mysterious Creature Caught On Game Camera in Dubina

Is it a monkey? A skinwalker? Chupacabra?

Some strange-looking critter passed in front of a game camera at the Demel place near Dubina last week. Michael “Dumas” Demel shared the image with the Fayette County Record. We showed it to Laura Sherrod, a wildlife biologist with Texas Parks and Wildlife.

Sherrod said the creature looked too small to be a white tail deer fawn. And it doesn’t appear to have any spots in the photograph.

She asked if anyone nearby raises exotic game, because she thought it looked like a baby blackbuck fawn. Demel said he knows of no exotic species anywhere near the property.

Sherrod said the creature could be some small animal with mange, like a fox, a young coyote or a house cat.

“The blurriness is definitely working against us,” she said.
