Murder Investigation Ongoing in Columbus After Shooting

On May 17 at 11:30 pm, Columbus Police Department responded to the 1100 block of Walnut Street in reference to gunshots. Officers located a victim that had been shot. Colorado County EMS was summoned to the scene and took the Victim to the Columbus Community Hospital, where the victim, Mitchell Levard Austin, 37 of Columbus succumbed to his wounds. The Columbus PD is working this case as a murder and is requesting the assistance of any person who may have knowledge of this crime to either contact their agency at (979)732-3351.
