Out and About

Kathy Chlumsky enjoyed a little get away to Austin to visit with her grandkids, Marcus and Olivia. It was real quality grandma time.

Nancy and Martin Cherry enjoyed company for the Pitman Memorial service on Sunday. In the spirit of gathering to remember and honor loved ones who have gone on, two of Nancy’s sisters and their husbands, Mary and Steve Musick from Wimberley and Anne and Paul Comeaux from San Antonio, joined Nancy and Martin and their kids to celebrate the memorial service. They enjoyed a quick lunch at Robert’s Steakhouse prior to coming out to the cemetery service. They visited their parents’ graves after the service and then went to the Cherry’s home to visit over pie. It was a wonderful day filled with laughter and reminiscing. Three generations of the Cherry family were in attendance and able to participate in this event, making it even more special.

Jennifer and Clay Rightmer were happy to have Jennifer’s brother and sister in law, Wade and Karen Howard, stop back by on their way back to Canada with their daughter Georgia. Also coming in to get a chance to say good bye were Jennifer and Clay’s son, Reed Rightmer who came in from Houston just to meet his little cousin and Jennifer’s sister Julie Zavala also stopped in to say good bye. Everyone enjoyed getting to meet and know little Georgia and hope to see her again soon.

Storm

This past week has been a stormy one in Muldoon. The first early Monday morning round brought strong damaging winds and little rain. There was some wide spread damage with tin being torn off barns leaving gaping holes in the structures. Tree limbs and other debris were sent flying with strong gusts taking off anything that was not tied down or attached well.

It did bring a small amount of rain with it. Clean up may take a little time in some spots. Many in the area woke up to no electricity due to a damaged line, but it was soon resolved with service being restored.

Then on Wednesday night another big electrical storm blew through with lots of thunder and lighting. Unfortunately no rain came with the light show. Temperatures have been on the warm side with highs in the upper eighties and low nineties. Summer is coming early.

Pitman Memorial

Pitman Cemetery held their annual Memorial Day service to honor those who were laid to rest. In years past there have been standing room only crowds with many standing outside for the service. This year the service attendance was way down. It was lightly attended, but those who were there enjoyed a wonderful message from Steve Bowman about the history of Memorial Day. Next year’s service will be on the first Sunday in May at 2:30 p.m.
