Tim and Christine Seubert got tired of the August/September heat in Muldoon and journeyed to Greenland and the high Canadian Arctic.

They were able to visit four remote native Inuit villages along the west coast of Greenland, hike to the Ilulissat glacial fjord and up Sisimiut Mountain, and explore several wilderness islands along the Northwest Passage in the Canadian Arctic.

When they got to Devon Island at a latitude of 75 degrees and the daytime high was 14 degrees, they decided it was time to return to Muldoon and thaw out.

Out and About

Ron and Pam Knotts spent the day recently at the Shiloh Community Center attending a Langenberg/Lorfing family reunion. It was a small group as so many folks are getting up in age, but those who came were treated to a lunch of roast beef and German potatoes. Everyone was invited to bring a side or dessert so there were lots of wonderful salads and great desserts including some traditional poppy seed rolls. Pam’s brother, Ray Langenberg brought his family history records and set up the genealogy charts for everyone to examine and fill in missing data.

James and I had the pleasure of our grandson, Ira James Ivy coming to play out in the country over the weekend. Ira got to play with his Uncle Bobby and to drive the tractor with Grandpa, too.

Church News

Next on the agenda for Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is Cowboys 4 Heroes at Fort Hood, honoring our nations’ heroes. This is a chance to pay back some for those who give so much to protect our freedom. Plans are for Saturday, Oct. 18 for SG2C member Tim Spice to take his chuck wagon up to Fort Hood to help feed military families. Contact Tim at (512) 423-2602 for more information if you would like to help payback some of what these brave men and women have given for our freedom.

Area ladies, if you are looking for a strong Bible study to join in. On Thursday nights at SG2C the ladies’ of “Sweet Tea and Scripture” are hard at work studying the Bible. Any area ladies that are interested can come join any Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. Each week is a new study topic and so joining in is always easy, you are never behind. There might even be a craft involved some weeks, but always a wonderful time in the Bible.

Weather

Muldoon is still very dry and warm during the days. Nights and early mornings have been nice with a cooler temperature starting to show. The ground is really showing a need for some rain with cracks starting to get bigger.

Neighborhood Watch

Muldoon is still a small community and we have to take care of each other. While you are out and about look around and make sure everything is good and there are not any strange vehicles or out of place or people roaming around your neighbor’s.

If you do see something out of place, be sure and give them a call to let them know. Sometimes it is people they have visiting and sometimes it is people who are not welcome there and the neighbor needs to know. Giving a call might help prevent a crime.
