    Mobile Food Pantry in Ledbetter this Saturday

The mobile food pantry of the Capital Area Food Bank will be near Ledbetter this Saturday, Sept. 20 from 10-11 a.m. Pick up is in the parking lot of the Waldeck Evangelical Lutheran Church located at FM 1291 and FM 2145. The pantry is available to Fayette County residents.

RT-C School News 

Round Top-Carmine JV and varsity volleyball teams play at Bellville with both Bellville and Burton as opponents on Sept. 16 with play beginning at 4 p.m. The teams play at Weimar on Sept. 19 at 4:30 p.m.

Jr. High volleyball team plays at Fayetteville on Sept. 29 at 5 p.m.

Jr. High Baseball hosts North Zulch on Sept. 18 at 5 p.m.

Picture retakes will be on Sept. 19 along with volleyball and cross-country teams’ pictures.

RT-C FFA officers were recently selected. They are President, Lylah Robertson; Vice-president, Luke Behnke; Secretary, Teague Weinert; Treasurer, Summer Dooley; Reporter, Morgan Williams; Sentinel, North Massey; Student Advisor, Kooper Kirts; and Chaplain, Miles Massey.

These students were selected by applying for the office and being interviewed.

Classes will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 19.

Purse Bingo Cancelled The Purse Bingo, sponsored by the RT-C Education Foundation, has been cancelled for this year. Due to several community events, including Carmine’s National Night Out, are the same evening. Ticket holders will receive refunds soon.

Fried Chicken Dinner 

The Carmine Hall is sponsoring a fried chicken dinner fundraiser this Sunday, Sept. 21. Carry-out only is from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 per plate. It includes a half chicken with trimmings. Desserts will be available for a donation to support the scholarship fund.

MLLC Women of the ELCA 

The Women of the ELCA of Martin Luther Lutheran Church will be hosting the Western Cluster Fall Gathering on Saturday, Sept. 27 beginning at 8:30 a.m. with a brunch. A program is planned and the business meeting will follow.

Shrimp Boil Fundraiser 

The RT-C Booster club is sponsoring its second annual Shrimp Boil fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 27. This year it will be held at the Round Top Rifle Hall, with Happy Hour beginning at 5 p.m. The meal will be served at 6 p.m. VIP table for 10 is $1,200 and a table for 8 is $700. Carmine 42 Domino Club The Carmine 42 Domino Club met on Wednesday, Sept. 3 at JW’s Steakhouse. After a wonderful lunch, eight gripping games of 42 were played among partners determined by drawing for positions at the tables.

High-scoring partners were Jeanette Schoenst and Linda Mattocks with a score of 1990 and they played one hand of 84. Marlene Waak and Bonnie Rudloff were second with a score of 1722 and they played three hands of 84. Edith Flinn and Betty Porter played four hands of 84. Myrt Meinkowsky and Avalda Pohl played eight interesting games of 42.

The group enjoyed the challenging domino games and the pleasant conversations. The next date for play is on Wednesday, Oct. 1.

MLLC News 

Senior Citizens meal pickup and dominoes are Wednesday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in the Mission and Ministry Building.

Confirmation class meets Wednesday from 4:15-6:15 p.m.

AA meeting is Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Sunday School meets Sunday at 9 a.m.

Worship, with Holy Communion observing Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost, is at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Phil Fenton serving as the guest pastor.

Domino party is Monday at 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Harvest Festival/Homecoming The annual Harvest Festival and Homecoming is scheduled for Oct. 19 at the Carmine Hall. Worship music will be led by Krause Duo.

A meal of pork ribeye and sausage, potatoes, and green beans will be served from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Meal tickets are $15. Tickets for a drawing will also be sold.

Confirmation homecoming classes ending in 5 and 0 will be recognized.

Recycling Trailers 

The recycling trailers are at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from 1-4 p.m.

Clean milk cartons should be kept separate from the other No. 2 plastics. They also accept clean No. 1 plastic bottles and jugs. Note that numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 plastics and plastic bags are not accepted.

Also accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.

Birthdays 

Birthday wishes are extended to Monty Mayer-Sept. 16; Cohen Miller and Jordan Weidemann-17; Eddie Marburger- 18; Presley Lange and Drayton Oakes-21; and Kennedy Flinn, Jacquelyn Ray, and Diane Wied-22.
