Missing Parrot Sought
Betty Yoakum of Fayetteville is desperately trying to find her parrot “Tookie.”
He is a Yellow-Headed Amazon Parrot that Yoakum has had for 35 years, and he has an extensive vocabulary.
Tookie lives in a large cage in a side building next to Yoakum’s house in Fayetteville. She last saw Tookie Monday night. When she went to bring him food the next day he was gone. The cage was closed and there is no way he could have gotten himself out, and Yoakum believes Tookie was stolen.
She has made a report with the Sheriff’s Department, but she is hoping a reader of The Record may have seen something, or may encounter Tookie and can help him be found.
If you know of anything please call Yoakum at 979-530-3559.
Tookie’s head is yellow and his body is green.
“I’m just heartbroken,” Yoakum said.
Tookie is a local celebrity of sorts. Yoakum has taken him to various library, school and nursing home events over the years locally since she moved to Fayetteville 11 years ago.
