Mikula Calls it a Career After 25 Years at LG HEB
Paul Mikula, Store Leader at the La Grange HEB, celebrated his final day of work at the store Tuesday, March 22, capping off a 25-year career there.
Co-workers celebrated Mikula with a barbeque and fried chicken lunch, cake, confetti, and they also covered him with silly string.
“It some ways it does feel like 25 years, but I can also remember the day I got hired,” Mikula said. “There were so many good days in between. I hoped I touched a lot of people and helped their careers. I think what I found most meaningful was helping get HEB entrenched in community activities.”
Under Mikula’s leadership, the La Grange HEB has become a local leader among charitable causes.
And just because he’s leaving the store, Mikula said he doesn’t plan to stop. He plans to remain active in the La Grange Baseball Association, Lions Club and is also on the council of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
But now there will be more time to travel and to enjoy his new nine-month-old grandbaby – his first.
“It’s been fun but it’s time – no big speech necessary,” Mikula said of leaving HEB. “It’s been the biggest blessing to be able to work in your hometown all these years and to do things that are meaningful to you.”
