Meth Located During Traffic Stop

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on June 21, at approximately 8:43 p.m., Deputy Cody Williams was sitting stationary in or about the 666-mile marker area of I-10, observing westbound travel from the center median in Engle, Fayette County. Deputy Williams observed a silver Honda commit a traffic violation.

Deputy Williams effected a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Crystal Rosario Encinas. While speaking with Encinas, Deputy Williams alerted to the odor of what he knows to be marijuana.

Deputy Williams performed a probable cause search and located an Oakley sunglass case with two hypodermic needles. One with a rock crystal-like substance inside, the other with a fog-like liquid inside consistent with liquid meth used for injection. Deputy Williams additionally located a white pill marked with IP110 (Hydrocodone) and a glass vial labeled Hemlibra, both of which require a prescription to possess, which she did not have.

Deputy Williams weighed the rock crystal-like substance and found its aggregate weight to be 6.75 grams. Deputy Williams field-tested the substance, which yielded positive results for methamphetamine.

Deputy Williams took Encinas into custody for possession of a controled substnce and transported her to the Fayette County Jail without incident.
