Meetings, But Little Progress on Hospital Reopening
The return of a hospital to La Grange still seems possible, but no closer to a reality after this update from County Judge Dan Mueller: “The future of the building that once housed St. Mark’s Hospital is still in question. A meeting to discuss the future of the building took place at the Fayette County Courthouse on Nov. 8. The meeting was hosted by County Judge Dan Mueller, Court Coordinator Cassie Austin and EMS Director Josh Vandever. State Senator Lois Kolkhorst and her staff and State Representative Stan Kitzman were in attendance along with Jim Cantrell and Alan Carlisle representing Green Jay Capital LLC, the entity that purchased the HUD note. Director Vandever, Senator Kolkhorst, Representative Kitzman and I made it abundantly clear that we want and we need a hospital at that location. At least one group has already expressed an interest in operating a hospital within the facility. Green Jay Capital has stated that they purchased the note as an investment.
“Vandever stated “while they are in the preliminary stages of deciding what the future of the facility will be, they seemed actively engaged in finding out what the needs and wants of the community are with respect to the facility and voiced their intention to keep local stakeholders in mind when deciding how to proceed.”
