    Meet the New Poet Laureate of Texas in Winedale

The Round Top Family Library and The Friends of Winedale invite you to meet Octavio Quintanilla, the new Poet Laureate of Texas. Join for an afternoon of literature, art, and conversation with one of Texas’ leading voices in poetry. This will be at the Meadows Building at the Winedale Historical Center on Sept. 21 from 3-6 p.m. A reception will follow.

September’s lineup of events includes yoga, story time, Kid’s Junior Master Gardener, chair yoga, chess club, taekwondo, “Shakespeare through Performance,” and STEAM classes. Family Game Day is Saturday, Sept. 13 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. For additional information on any of these classes visit ilovetoread. org.

Round Top-Carmine ISD The September FFA meeting is Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m. Another early release is scheduled for Sept. 19.

Booster Club Shrimp Boil The Second Annual RTC Booster Club Shrimp Boil is Saturday, Sept. 27. Call (979) 203-4343 or email amy@bluebonnetabstract.com to reserve your VIP table, premiere seating, or to learn more.

Designer Purse Bingo 

The RT-C Education Foundation will host a Designer Purse Bingo on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. at the Carmine Hall. This organization raises funds to provide arts enrichment, technology, and innovative teacher grands for the students. Tickets include the opportunity to win one of ten beautiful purses, drinks, and light bites. Visit rtceducationfoundation. org/event-tickets to learn more or to purchase a ticket. Round Top Rifle Hall 

This month’s Monday night hamburger socials will be Sept. 8 and Sept. 15. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Come out for a night of delicious burgers and community. Proceeds benefit the RTRHA.

Round Top Hermann Sons Round Top/Shelby Hermann Sons Life met for their regular monthly meeting on Aug. 28 at the American Legion Hall. Linda Mattocks, President, called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. All officers were present; one committee member was absent, two visitors were present, and two new members were welcomed.

Linda’s agent report included the new annuities for three or five years. Members may have multiple annuities, or insurance policies, in your name, and still only pay one $18 membership fee. This amount is the responsibility of the member and is not eligible for deduction from any policy. Correspondence included a thank you from the Grand Lodge for our monetary donation for the Hill Country flood victims. Melanie mentioned the members that were sent cards. Members presented updates on members not able to attend our meeting this evening.

CASA donations are being accepted at the Round Top Real Estate office. Lila Garlin mentioned some good buys during this change of season. Other suggestions were offered.

Items needed for the country store at Ledbetter VFD on Oct. 23 were discussed. Workers are also needed as early as 2 p.m. for set up. The group will dismantle during the auction.

The next serving committee for October, November and December will be Leonard and Myrt Meinkowsky, Jeanette Schoenst, Lana Limmer, Max Baranowski, Jeanette Hancock, Dwight Nittsche, and Randy Wied. It was suggested to include all cell phone numbers with our new serving list. A big thank you for the wonderful chicken spaghetti with garlic bread and salads from our past committee of Mary, Melanie and Sophie Rauch, Bob and Betty Porter, and Valgene and Carmen Ebner. Thank you to all the members who brought the delicious desserts.

Barton and Lila Garlin were celebrating their 59 wedding anniversary this evening and Tina and Joe Morrow had their 21 anniversary. Birthdays for September will be Jeanette Schoenst, Carmen Ebner and Margie Stardig. The celebration song was sung.

There is no meeting in September, due to the antiques event. Next meeting is Oct. 23. Attendance prizes were won by Kyra Albers, Lila and Barton Garlin, Betty Porter, and Linda Mattocks. Dinner, refreshments and fellowship was enjoyed by all.

St. Martin’s Catholic Church St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Warrenton holds a monthly Mass the first Tuesday of the month at 8 a.m. More information can be found at stjohnfayetteville. com/st-martin.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church Bethlehem Lutheran Church meets for worship Sundays at 9:30 a.m. You can also watch the service on their YouTube channel found at https://tinyurl.com/yc77f2vj at 9:30 a.m.

St. Paul Lutheran Church St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby services are at 8 a.m. Fellowship, Coffee, and Sunday School follow at 9:30 a.m. Game Day is held the first Wednesday at 2 p.m. Quilting is held the third Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.

St. John’s Lutheran Church St. John’s is part of the Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County. They meet for Sunday Worship at 8:30 a.m.

RT Christian Fellowship Round Top Church meets at 8:45 a.m. for Bible Study, followed by a 10 a.m. service.

St. Cecilia’s Episcopal Church Worship services are held Sundays at 8:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. at the Haw Creek Chapel in Henkel Square.
